Mountains map guide to survival
After a couple of days I've put together a quick guide for anyone who isn't sure about the DLC and survival mode. Anything mentioned in the guide applies to normal mode.

The map i've posted shows the main locations of the secret collectables, deer spawns and bear dens. I didn't mark where the Fire Hazzards are since they tend to stick to one main large area regardless.

Yellow dots show the 5 unique collectables and the spawn points are constant. The deer all walk towards the tundra entrance making a migration pattern year round in the top left corner of the map and then down south through the valley on the left. I havn't seen any deer spawn on the right side of the map. Bears will stick to their dens but have a great smell so their areas can be hazzardous and low in food generally.

Depending on which path you take with your cubs depends mostly on which threats you encounter first and how often. Theres only two ways to enter and both have significantly different dynamics when you have your cubs.

1. If you plan to leave the den and head straight for the mountains it works well, but you are limited to voles, pheasants, hares, foxes and eagles. Because there is no actual way to cross the map with the river flowing you spend most of your time avoiding bears, *FOREST FIRES and pushing for food until winter when you cross over and start taking out deer.
* These happen during spring, summer and autumn during thunder storms will push aggresively until you hit the river in the center where it automatically dies down and stops.

2. I found that leaving the Den and heading through the tundra to the mountains provided a better food route that offered escape during the wolves and two deer spawns before you get to the mountains entrance. Once in the moutains you'll be ready for more deer as you come out on the top left of the map and you can work your way south taking out the 3rd and 4th deer spawn.

Once you push through the 4 main deer spawns (2 tundra, 2 mountains) your cubs will be jeuvenilles and you can start taking things a little easier. You get to avoid the forest fires which helps incredibly this way aswell since one of your cubs will stop in fear and can easily get seperated in the chaos.

Last tips : Rocks are your best friend for stalking. Deer rely on sound mostly, phesants have crappy eye sight so blocking their line of sight and waiting for them to approach behind rocks helps alot as it will save you stamina . Also you run about 25-35% faster if you trigger your max sprinting speed focus and keep your lynx running straight. you have about 45 degrees on either side to turn keep your speed at max.

You run at the same speed of hares if you arne't focused during your sprint so as long as you trigger your focus mode you can catch deer and pheasants with minimal stamina.

Hope this helps :)

Heres a link with an updated map with the Forest fire hazzards marked. I also noticed I missed the mark for one of the 5 collectbales which is now there.

Its also worth mentioning that foxes can be hard to deal with but if you leave a hare carcass and walk off they will stop to eat the kill you left. Once they start eating they forget you so you can just rush them and face roll them. This always works. Best part is that the fox feeds all 4 cubs and you can dine on the hare and move one without worry.
