Shelter 3 Suggestions
So, I love Shelter SOOO much, and am SOOO excited for a Shelter 3! I'm pretty much exploding with ideas, so here are some of mine! (I rlly hope M&D read this, but idk :( ) So, here are some ideas that I came up with that I think would be great (Feel free to post your ideas too)!
So, here are the things Shelter seems to stick to:
- Solitary animals
- Animals that care for their young until they have reached adulthood (Or almost reached adulthood)
- Uncommon animals that aren't popular nor completely unknown
- Not Apex predators
So, according to that, here are my favorite ideas:
1: Foxes
I really love this idea purely because #1: It's a canine. There have yet to be any Shelter games where you play as a canine. #2: They do raise their pups alone. #3: They are most certainly not apex, but can also hunt and defend themselves. #4: I'm quite positive that everyone older than 6 knows what a fox is, but you can't say that they're the most popular animals on earth. #5: Foxes are just so cuteeee! Also, we've never seen any babies that are called 'pups' in a shelter game, so fox pups would be new and adorable to all players.

2: Birds/Eagles
I like this idea because #1: They are not the top of the food chain (Depending on what type of bird). #2: They are solitary. #3: There are tons of types of birds that aren't very popular. Falcons, for example. #4: They care for their young for a while. #5: It would be a new experience.

3: Otters, seals, or other river animals
To me, I think these are good ideas because #1: We've never seen river animals in Shelter! The only ones we've seen are frogs. #2: They're solitary. #3: Depending on what creature it is, they care for their young for a while. #4: C'mon. Don't even try to tell me that Otters are apex predators.

Let me know what you think! Which of these do you like best?

I think that'd be great, but the only problem is... They're pack animals.

What about a herbivore. I suggest a mountain hare. It lives in the same place as the lynx and is solitary. Is hunted by eagles and foxes and raises it's young alone. Plus shelter had a badger which is an omnivore. Shelter 2 had a lynx which is a carnivore so what about a herbivore. I think a mountain hare would be the best option.

That's a good idea! Perhaps there could only be certain plants and one has to try one's hardest to avoid the poisonous ones...? Sounds fun and more suspenseful regarding predators. :)

That'd be cool! I just think that it might be better with some kind of deer or a mountain goat (or an Ibex. I saw someone mention that) because then there could be an area where poison plants grow, with no differences from the normal plants, and you'd be able to tell because one of your babies who ate the poison plant (chosen randomly) would collapse, and you'd have to run and find a certain plant, grab it, and feed it to your baby to cure the poison

That sounds cool! Maybe you'd have to complete a puzzle to save it.

I'd love to get an animal that has different mechanics so I'd love to see otters or something, with watery maps to explore.

Oh, you're right! I was doubtful about it for Meadow because not all animals can swim, but Shelter 3: Otters would be amazing! I can imagine the fish you could hunt, swimming around freely after the cubs (cubs?) leave, and taking care of the young otters. :)

But goats/deers ( Whatever you wanna call it ) often live in a herd, and they have one or two offsprings. So It wouldn't be so exiting. :/

Very true

I'll have to do a bit of studying about otters and see if the categories fit... :)

i feel like there should be a big animal this time, cos all the other animals are pretty small, i also think it should be different to all the other animals in games, you know how theres always big cats or wolves, there needs to be a change

Yeah. I really think that foxes would be great tho.
I think a clouded leproded, wolf, river otter, or mained wolf would be best.
