From what i understand they are linked in pairs so far? And they always feed together with the same pair? So you kind of learn the pairs and rotate i think, but im also thinking maybe the pairs take turns at feeding so you do not need to monitor that?
I only just passed the first year too where they go from Cubs to small Adults i guess, Not found Wolves yet but ive chased off and killed a few Foxes and Eagles.
For the kit hunger thing, you can tell by looking at the fur--if it's grayer/darker than normal, then it's closer to starving. They also seem to (by what I can tell, though I don't pay too much attention to them all the time) be a bit slower than the others, though that could just be my imagination or coincidence, haha. Other than that, just pay attention to who you're feeding and it should be fine. You can see blood on the paws and mouths of kits who just recently ate, if that will help any :)
Also the tip with the darkened fur. I can appreciate the minimalism the game went with.. a full on HUD would harm immersion and the like, but the total lack of direction coupled with the first loss of a "life" within 20 minutes was a bit disheartening to start out with. Going to give it another try tomorrow and see if I can't outsmart those wolves this time around :P
1. if you have not fed one of your cubs as much as the rest they would look slightly lighter (it is hard to tell with the white one) if your cub dies of starvation it should start raining maybe with lightning
2. if the sky goes dark wolfs could be coming the only ways to get rid of wolfs is jumping on a rock ledge but if there are no ledges near by then drop a prey item the wolfs should stop to eat that and give you more time to find a ledge you can not kill them they hunt lynx
3. if the sky goes dark the blob could be coming if you see the blob just go to the den the blob will get close but it should not reach you the blob comes in the starting area and in three trees
4. if the screen starts shaking the bear/polar bear is coming for you if it catches you it will go after one of your cubs (the cub will just be lying down not stolen) you can get rid of the bear/polar bear by jumping on a rock ledge im not sure if they'll be interested if you drop a prey item you can not hunt them they hunt you
5. if lightning strikes look around if theres no fire then your good if there is fire then do one of two things 1. jump on a ledge and 2.just get out of there asap i always go for option 2.
6. never let a fox get your cubs if you chase it 3 or 4 times it should leave you alone if it does get one of your cubs then i dont know what to do listen out for the snapping twigs and keep your cubs close you can kill it and it will not kill you it will feed all 4
7. eagles will come down and snatch your cubs most of you will know how to spot them once you are quite close to the jump on them you can kill it it can not kill a grown up lynx but like the fox it can kill cubs it will feed all 4
i know theres probably something else im forgetting but i hope this helps
