Worth Getting/Playing?

Hi guys. Is this game worth getting? I have never played a Settlers game before. What is the series like, and where should I start with games? Should I start with this one? Thoughts and help appreciated :)

No. Even if you get this, you still wouldn't have played a settlers game ;) This is trash, nothing to do with " The Settlers". It's just milking the name... for decades now.

Its definitely worth 20€, at least! If you like a mix of economy and RTS like fighting, the game is good for you.

Id personally put 6 (rise of an empire) as the greatest 'modern' settlers title, simply on account of the raw data that it still has a playerbase for the gold-edition on steam-charts and did pretty well for itself as a disc-copy title at the time of release.

Maybe not technically more powerful than 7, but it still held together the visual integrity the titles tried with 5 to move to the medieval era. 5 was weird and quirky, with the whole weather changing thing but still good fun in a simplistic way, having to compete alongside stronghold crusader of the same kind of genesis.

Round about the same time Age of Empires Online got scrapped in 2013 the Settlers 7 being caught in the cartoony RTS fad of 2010~ just became a casualty of the kind of poor title adaptions we get nowadays.

Depends on what you liked about Settlers 2. It has a lot more content than 2, but it doesn't play the same way, it's way more modernised. If you want something closer to 2's mechanics, The Colonists is a good recent alternative.

No it's not like 2.

2 had a "1 transport settler only per road segment" mechanic, which was the foundation of the whole logistic system.

This new settler is more like a crossover between 5 (RTS units, military) and 4 (direct transporters, optional streets unless connecting a building, free roaming armies).

Whoever says this is like Settlers 1/2 should go and re-install those to get a reality check.

I wanted to ask the same. If it is worth buying. I loved the old settlers ( 2 , 3 , 4 ) and with Settlers 4 I stopped playing.
Is this new game going back to the roots ? Or at least simmilar to Settlers 3/4 mechanics ? I would love to play Settlers game with new visuals but with mechanics from Settlers 3/4.

It's similar to S3/4, but with a bit less economy. The pacing is also similar, with about 45 minutes of town building followed by battles. You'll feel right at home.

You mean your personal opinion is that you don't like this game. You can't mention points against it. So its not trash, but just your opinion.
