Sharks win by killing all the divers.
They both start with 30 respawns, first one who runs out loses.
Hitting STEVE only forces hin to reboot, generally it's not worth the time to hit him vs attacking a diver. On the plus side, hitting him knock treasure out. Which does nothing to the divers but it does let the sharks play pinata.
Keep this in mind. As a shark, you may not always want to rush into every area, as some are near impossible to assault early on without special upgrades; with this in mind, try to pick them off after they leave the first spot. If someone leaves the group for treasure or something, pick them off. Try not to stay too close to them either, because they will hear the heartbeats and know you are just waiting around the corner.
Name of the game is patience early on, then as you and your teammate get a few upgrades, things should start spiraling downward for the divers as you learn the game.
