Depth(デプス)
This game is dying and its us old player's fault.
This happens in 90% of my games. Either its 2 new sharks against 3+ experienced divers who for some reason all go harpoons and camp the sharks winning 30 kills to 15 in a completely unfun way for sharks, or the opposite 2 2000 game sharks against 3 5 game divers who go thresher mako hammerhead and kill them with less than 5 sharks killed.

Adjust your playstyle to your enemy team if you want this game to live. When i'm against new sharks i buy double net or double sensor as i know its unfair if i go hard against them and no fun for anyone involved. I never see sharks do the same. If you are against 3 20 games or less players stop rushing powerful tail give them a chance to play the game or they will quit.

I dont understand why this is hard to understand.

I have invited at least 5 friends to play this game and none of them have lasted more than 10 games because of cancerous sharks and divers who have 1000+ games. We are now at 150 cocurrent players, you have no one to blame but yourselves.

One of the first shark games I played I was matched with a full 4 player level 100 diver team. It honestly almost killed the game for me right then and there.

If we are talking about anything here, I might suggest the devs limiting a full level 100 party's match making posiblities.

And to level 100s who que together let me pose this question:
Is it worth killing a game you love simply to boost your ego for 15 minutes?

Tolerance for newbies. Not all of them playing bad... We must support them and play only for 50% of our skill. :Gnarl:

Oh so this is what this is about. They just queue together to wreck newbies, get their win and boost their egos. And here I thought that games are social things and it's nice to play with many friends that people made along the way playing Depth. Oh how foolish I was.
You can always choose to be selfish. It's up to you.

You know, there are different mentalities when you get rekt not just in a video game. You either choose to quit or you decide to keep going untill you turn the tables. Depends on the person.

They're also newer games though, and have a very strong Youtube/Twitch presence. There are probably less people that know Depth exists than there are people who watch streams of games like LoL.

Thats mostly marketing,is anyone suprised that Blizzard killed it with Overwatch? could there be anymore hype for a game?

How can an indie title compare to a monolith like Activision/Blizzard for hype.

Of course, I'm not trying to argue that it does, should or even can. But this relates back to my original point.
My experience is completely different than yours. I would say 75 percent of my games are a garbage sharkmate or three garbage divers. Despite my playtime and level those games are still very challenging and I am not complaining about it. (I also don't tell people they are garbage) I find if I try to give advice it is met with silence so I rarely do it. 4 man lvl 100 diver teams aren't very common, I think it is rediculous to segment them off or the devs spending time to do so. High level shark duos are much more common, guilty of that myself. I never thought about it but the quest may have a negative effect in that I am less likely to go easy as I am trying to rush through whatever objective I have, and the end game loot seems to have sufferred as a result.

I'm honestly divided on how to feel about it. On the one hand, it absolutely sucks to be put in a one sided match, and I know I didn't enjoy those games when I was learning. On the other hand though, for a game as skill based as depth I always thought "If I was better at the game I could've won that", or "If I was better at the game I could've performed better" in games that were impossible to carry.

I stuck it out through the easy games and the dry anal rape games, and I feel fairly proud of my skill now that I finally got to level 100. Not everybody has the time to dedicate to improving in this way though, so casual players are turned off.

On a final note, a lot of new players are just unwilling to learn. They declare the game unbalanced after 5 hours of playing and get legitimately angry at you if you try to give them advice during a game. Obviously this doesn't apply to all newbies, but more often then not I'm either ignored, or they seem to think I'm being condescending. Example:

At the end of the day, the topic isn't simple by any means, and it doesn't have a simple solution.
its old and new players - newbies give up after a few times rather then trying or learning more, like back when i bought it i was put in with 4 100 divers and got rekt so many times, did end up leaving matches early but got into some lower leveled players. but mostly ended up being qued with 100s over and over, learnt a few and got mauled at the same time..

people who first join dont stay after 1-5 matches because vets are normaly on depth, now if the newbies would actualy stay rather then quitting there would be a bigger player base to the game..

tho again i play how i normaly do, dont even need to try for a HH,Thresher main.. if i want quests done, they will get done no matter if being qued with fresh meat.. would rather have those done soon as possible lol

I've made plenty of friends along the way too, Ray, and several of them are veteran players. But when I lobby up with other veterans I refuse to pubstomp. I'll intentionally play against other veterans in my lobby because it's only fair to the randoms that we'll meet. Pubstomping is boring to me, and playing against my friends isn't any less of an interactive social experience than playing on a team with them. I just don't see how anyone could enjoy playing in a nigh-unbeatable premade team over and over and over again.

EDIT: I think the jab about ego-stroking wasn't entirely fair, I'm not defending that. I'm just saying... pubstomping in pre-made teams makes Depth a much worse game imo.

As a guy who has played a lot of both sides and prefers to play shark I can say that if the experienced divers go to open water, experienced sharks need to beat up steve and force the divers back. Yes it makes the final phase a doozey but I can say that there's a lot to be done as a shark against pro harpooners: alternate dash patters, attack from odd angles, never ever attack parallel to the ground, and jack knifing.

I just went 23 kills ftw against 2 crowned divers, and while i was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ my pants the whole time, map knowledge really got me through. There really is a window in this game for a smarter shark than I see people throwing out there. Being on coms with your blood brother really helps, but playing enough diver to know what they see and more importantly don't see, is even more important.
As for new diver, people really need to undertand that this game has a learning curve... the games not yer standard FPS, the bullets have to travel through a liquid for cryin out loud. If you want to point finger at anyone, point it at all the people who don't have the balls to lose a little bit in order to learn how to win.

Game is Hard is set to the quick chat for a reason, and people need to cut themselves more slack when it comes to failing, more than this game needs to be tailored to help the narbs. What ever happened to watching/reading tutorials?

There are a bunch on steam.

Well, the topic is simple in a subjective way and it has subjective solutions.

I even more understand, that it may be difficult for players under level 40.
As they haven't unlocked any gear a higher level player has.
But any high player was at that point once...

I plair fair, but haven't been playing the game. Why?

BECAUSE THE DAMN FLASHLIGHT DOESN'T WORK.
It's been broken for me ever since after shark fight, and the devs don't care.about fixing it.

https://youtu.be/EX2ILogHcpU?t=48

Fix this bug, and I'll come back and start playing more regularly. Until then, the game is too broken for me to enjoy playing in any manner because I can't see anything with a broken flashlight.

Not to say I can't manage at all with it like this, but it's NOT FUN, ruins my visibility, distracts me like a strobelight that could cause some people to HAVE SIEZURES, and I have no motivation to play when the graphics are like this. I'll come back and play regularly when this is fixed.

I have to ask to make sure, have you done all the basic stuff like verifying your game files or uninstalling your game and reinstalling it?
