[Inquiry] Tiger Shark...HTF to Counter?
I've been playing this game for a few years now. I took a small break and then hopped back into it again. I played this game back when it was much more "simpler" to understand. You had three sharks and a bunch of weapons you coulduse. There were no abilities, evolutions, etc.

Now, after coming back, I saw that sharks had evolutions and other "fun" stuff. I'm specifically a Diver. I prefer Diver over shark. I can counter a good amount of the sharks and shark playstyles in this game but the one that continues to frustrate me the most is the Tiger Shark. I just can't seem to figure out a counter to it. Sure, tranq bullets was my first though but that Invisibility is a PiTA!!! There doesn't seem to be ANY way to detect a Tiger while he is in that stage either, and you would think the Sonar would actually be useful in that fact.

So, my question to all you more experienced divers and shark users, is there a way to counter a Tiger Shark or a way to detect his presence even when it's using the Invisibility?

You pretty much just have to get used to it. Sound is very important, but when there's a tiger in the game you pop some aderall and start paying attention to the slightest of movements on your screen.

It's for that exact reason that even a lot of the high level divers complain about Tiger. Some divers with thousands of games under their belt have called me scum for plaing tiger against them

You spam detection. Use tagging rounds, sonar buoys, flares. And take advantage of the fact that the tigers' cloaking ability doean't work when it bites someone.
Scatter gun with bleed and dag is also a good option, jusy like any option with tag/bleed, simce tiger is a ninja shark that relies a lot on speed :D

Same :feeling:

I don't see the issue with countering the Tiger shark tho. I'm a tiger main and the smart vets easily get me despite how "op" everyone complains it is...

A bit misleading there, Tiger's ability is still active when he's grabbing a diver, but the diver still glows in the dark so it's a bit easier for the other divers to shoot at the tiger.

Somkething I forgot earlier, keep in mind that Tiger's ability doesn't last very long, starting at 2 seconds of camo and evolving to 3 and finally to 5 seconds. Flares tossed outsdie the room will inconvenience a tiger by forcing them to cloak earlier, and once they're inside flares and sonar buoys will be able to see them when it wears off

Well, people called 4/6 sharks "op" in the endgame screen to me. Basically only HH and Thresher are balanced from my research :steamsalty:

But yeah, even though cloak counters detection spamming detection is the way to go I'd say. Makes the tiger use cloak earlier. Considering how I build tiger, I max ability last so I only have 2 sec cloak for the majority of the game.

You're not completely invisible with the tiger's ability

once you know what to look for, you can spot them while stealthed. If they're moving fast it's harder, but if they're trying to creep into a room you can see their 'shimmering' shape and shoot at it. Veteran sharks move enough that it's hard, but on beginner tigers you can spot them a lot more easily and learn what to look for

but sound is the key to getting a tiger. Plenty of detection, because their ability only lasts seconds

You cannot if they do not shift swim.

Best way to counter is by using flares at long distances and looking for the silhoutte. They can only cloak for so long so if the flares are further out it makes it a little tougher for them to approach. Clever mines can kill them as well. The divers have to focus on saving each other and be ready to fire in their teammates direction at any time. Listen for them if they dash or shift swim a lot. Sound is very key. However, the best tiger players will make very little to no sound before they grab you. You can in some cases also attempt to chase them down with dpv's but this is very hard if they have vitalized frenzy or a natural refresh on their cloak. Net guns can work if you have proper placement and/or are suspecting an approach. There are many things you can do but probably the most important thing you can do is suffer and play tigers a ton yourself to understand where tigers would come from.

Well, before I reported it, the sensor gun used to apply the tag effect on a cloaked tiger so you'd get the camera flash noise and a "shark revealed" message would pop up when facing that big empty hallway.
Shouldn't have reported it maybe :awkward:
Now, it all comes down to listening and making it use the cloak early via detection. As for weaponry, my go-to gun is the speargun: one shot will leave him with one tick of health that any ammo mod would promptly deal with, or a knife if too close.
Should I be facing two tigers, it's sonar spear/bleed on the first one and drag/toxic on the second speargun.

good aim + speargun + bleed = GG tiger

now as for seeing it early good luck throw down flares a good distance out and pray else it all comes down to the day some time you get them some times nope

as a tiger main, i can say that no, you are not totally OP. good veteran players is hard as hell to get, and if you face a team of them, more often than not, we loose. As so many others have said, flares are a damn annoyance, and sonar bouys are targets to take out, making tigers fairly predicable. Also, tigers tend to be the one to be used to take out shieds. When your shields go and you havent spotted a shark, the tiger is in the room.

Also, that sharkshaped thing coming towards you is not an air bubble....

Also, light still interacts with them the same way, so be sure to scan above you when in the open. The sunlight outs them.

Or their shadow on the ground.
But don't shoot the shadow tho.

The Tiger is definitely the one that is hardest to counter. However it lacks stamina and gets oneshotted by the speargun. Sound (Hearbeat and the shark's sound) are your friend here. Shark Shields work wonder, because they turn the tables. And just watch each other's backs.
