How do you get saves (status profile) as sharks?

Noticed something when I looked at my profile. Below kills there is a status for how many saves you've managed as Diver or shark. I would imagine saves referres to how many times you saved a diver from getting eating by a shark. However when it comes to shark It seems a bit more unclear what that means. Anyone out there with this knowledge on how sharks gain saves?

It's if you eat a diver who is shooting at or shot at your teammate recently.

Okay, cause I'm pretty certain I've attacked a diver who shot at my teammate and I have yet increased my saves for shark, But I'm gonna test it out.

Post: Tried together with a shark friend, didn't seem to give any saves. maybe I did it wrong but he was shooting and I grabbed him and ate him while he was firing at my friend.

Ive always thought it was something along those lines, but still not sure after 3500 hours . Dev clarification would be great

It could also be a bug, my friend was telling me he was't getting stats for killstreaks even though we can see the kill streak rewards in the after match screen.

Same, my killstreak stats haven't been tracked in ages. The killstreak leaderboards are frozen in time.

I've been at 72 saves for such a long time, all from long ago when I didn't play shark much. Now, 500-550 shark games later I've not saved a single person supposedly, while I've eaten divers shooting at my teammate many times.

I had quite few saves as shark but not sure how i did them

I have 0 saves for shark to, I'm more of like the first one in there before my shark mate, so really he gets the saves XD

pretty sure it's glitched
