Currently FaceRig uses a 32-bit version of DirectShow to send out the webcam image. That version doesn't (always) work with 64-bit applications.
If you want to keep your 64-bit version of chrome, you can always try using the 32-bit canary version of chrome (which can run side-by-side of that chrome) found here: http://www.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel
As a matter of fact, I can't use the regular camera mode either since it shows FaceRig as using the camera but when I switch to the FaceRig camera nothing happens.
It works in Omegle on 64-bit Chrome so I'm guessing it's just a Hangout issue.
Also, even with facerig turned off, it should still show you the "facerig is not active" image (a blue image similar to the start of the video's made by facerig)
I was able to get it to work with Google hangout. The trick was to have it broadcasting *before* launching a Google hangout.
One of the many, many updates since then has solved the issue.
Using google chrome? (On that it currently works the best)
Did you allow access to your camera both in the flash settings and in the browser settings? (for the browser settings there should either be a bar or there can be a little icon on the right side of the address bar.
If both still don't work, send me a friend invite and I'll talk to you with chat.
