Additionally, please submit the required files so we can take a look at what's going on "under the hood" http://steamcommunity.com/app/274920/discussions/2/34096318703798146/
Those files will help us do the needed detective work to figure it out. Maybe the drivers on the webcam are a bit old. Maybe you have selected the legacy framegrabber in the launcher settings when trying to fix the issue, and then forgot to switch back. Maybe you have webcam pass-through programs such as Manycam installed on your system whose settings you need to tweak. Maybe you didn't know that Skype sometimes remains hidden in the traybar and you only thought you had closed it, but it fact it had remained open but hidden. There are a lot of things that could be happening :).
Our programmers have taken a look at your logs and it seems that, for some reason, FaceRig can't access your webcam (this isn't exactly news, I suppose ^^)
Our advice is to try to install ManyCam (a software that accesses your webcam and allows multiple applications to get access to the feed through its Manycam virtual webcam driver).
This will do 2 things. One, show us if Skype ( our usual suspect) is somehow crashing and keeping the webcam busy in a way that Process Explorer is failing to detect. If ManyCam can't access your webcam either, this is a clear hint. What it will also do is allow both FaceRig AND Skype to use the webcam feed (through the ManyCam virtual webcam driver) so that there are no more issues.
So the steps would be
1. Install ManyCam
2. Open ManyCam and try to access the c920 webcam (with skype previously opened, but now closed) - make a note of the result you get (can ManyCam access the webcam or not?)
If the above step results in ManyCam being able to access your webcam feed, use the ManyCam virtual camera feed in both FaceRig and Skype :D
As an alternative, you could try to use the legacy frame grabbed (set through the FaceRig launcher) though I advise this course of action only if the previous one doesn't work (the 1st set of actions is a troubleshooting course rather than an avoidance/workaround)
Let us know how it does and if you need more details :)
I have now installed ManyCam, however that also did not pick up my webcam at all. Then I had uninstalled Skype from my computer to see if that would fix anything and it hasn't. There is another program on my computer called Camera and that will pick up my webcam just fine. I don't know if that could be the culprit but it is possible. I cannot uninstall this program because it is a Windows 8.1 program only.
I have no idea what to do. Thanks
We'll continue to look into this but at this moment we don't have an answer for you since it seems to be something that's happening on your system, outside of the FaceRig application since ManyCam can't access the webcam either. I will update this thread if we get to the bottom of the issue or make any progress.
