At a first glance I would suspect the a thread crashes underneath the loading screen
There are about four things I wold suggest you could try (in this order) aside the old tried and tested reboot (which I assume you already tried) until Monday when the programmers can take a proper look at this.
1. try to start the program in dx9 mode instead of dx11 ( from the launcher settings) , and if that works I would suggest updating the graphic card drivers to the latest official version from AMD. ( not a beta version, but a certified stable version) and probably it will work in dx11 too .
2. Right click on the program name and do a "verify integrity of the local application files", and then try to start again.
3. Go in your documents Folder\Holotech\Facerig\Usercfg\ *.* delete all the contents of that folder (which will reset all your local settings to the defaults) and try to start the program again
4. Do a reinstall but also manually clean the install folder (especially important to delete the contents of the datacache folders ) that were left in the install folder from the previous install.
Let us know how it goes :)
Application cache is fine.
Deleting contents of folder did not help.
Complete uninstall, cleanup, and reinstall did not fix it either.
Graphics card drivers are completely up to date. FaceRig still stubbornly refuses to work as intended.
Also tried running FaceRig with elevated privileges ( as administrator ?). If you have installed FaceRig in a Program Files subfolder, FaceRig may need Administrator privileges to alter the content of those files ( to create the model data-cache) .
The programmers will take a look at this when they return to the office on Monday and may request additional information.
Unfortunately, the log doesn't provide much clues on why the application hangs in loading screen, although we suspect there is something to do with the sound card. FaceRig hangs exactly where it tries to enumerate all audio devices installed on system. I see you have the HT OMEGA FENIX sound card installed, a webcam with an embedded microphone and Scarlett 8i6, you could try updating the drivers for all of them and see if that helps.
If updating drivers doesn't help, could you disable the sound card or the Scarlett 8i6, run FaceRig and send the newly created VP.log again?
Sort of.
It looks like it didn't agree with my soundcard for reasons best known to itself. The moment I disabled my Fenix, FaceRig suddenly worked.
It did give me some interesting new problems, however! Once my soundcard was disabled, the launcher didn't present any audio input devices to use other than the one virtual audio cable I have installed, so it sort of feels like one step forward, two steps back, almost.
New VP.log is here: http://pastebin.com/QGcphLPv
Interesting to note that the log does show all of my audio devices being enumerated, yet for some reason the launcher only chooses to show me the least useful one. o.o
Also, what way is your microphone connected?
Finally, have you tried going into your Windows settings and setting your real microphone as the default capture device?
You might have to delete / rename the files in "<my documents>\holotech\facerig\usercfg" to let it re-check your audio input devices (preferably rename so you can revert to them should it not work out, so you retain your other settings.
Nope.
Mic is connected to the 8i6, which is a studio grade audio interface I use for both broadcasts and calls.
To put this lightly, I know what I'm doing when it comes to connecting up audio devices. Everything is the way it ought to be, but it would seem that FaceRig does not like my Fenix sound card.
That or it could be the virtual cable it doesn't like, which is certainly a possibility.
Anyway, I appreciate the attempt to help, but I'll wait to see what the developers have to say on the topic before I try anything more exotic.
What I can say is that we'll need to debug FaceRig with that particular piece of hardware, so we'll have to order it first. Unfortunately, an update on this will take some time.
Regarding the fact that the Launcher doesn't detect the audio devices, while FaceRig enumerates them (in log), the difference here is that we use two different methods. The launcher uses Direct Show to enumerate all audio sources, FaceRig uses PortAudio.
For your knowledge, we have added this issue to our internal bug tracker and we are investigating it.
