Webcam feed freezes
I'm using a Logitech C270 with an i7, 32 GM RAM, and an R9 390 GPU. After launching the program, everything appears to work fine but then within a couple minutes or so the webcam feed freezes and the character stops moving. Everything else in the program continues to function fine but the webcam feed does not. Webcam works fine in all other software. What can I do here?

Does this happen on a particular webcam resolution?

You can check the resolution and framerate of the webcam from Advanced UI > Advanced Tracking Configuration > Trackers tab > ULSee section.

You could try changing to a smaller resolution like 640x480, it should be optimal. Anything above, gets scaled back to 640 width anyway.

I am currently running at 640 x 480 @ 30 with the same problem. I tried other resolutions and the same thing happens.

I'm not sure we can find a workaround, we'll have to investigate this further.

We'll need a bit more info:
1. what is the cpu usage while this issue happens?
2. the VP.log that can be found at <steamInstallDir>\steamapps\common\FaceRig\. You can paste the contents of it to pastebin.com (no registration required) and post the link here.
3. is the camera connected through a USB hub?
4. have you tried different USB ports for the camera?

The funny thing is that we have the exact camera model in office, on less powered machines, and cannot reproduce this issue.

1. Total CPU usage sits between 10-13% at all times.
2. https://pastebin.com/9ebxSV7c
3. The Camera is not connected through a USB hub and I have tried several ports on my machine.

I've also tried the usual run as administrator as well as several compatibility modes. I am running Windows 10 pro.

Also, I can get the webcam feed to unfreeze by reselecting my webcam from the dropdown menu but it will freeze again at any time from a few seconds to a few minutes afterwards.

I was able to find a workaround using SplitCam software to capture the logitech webcam and then select splitcam from FaceRig as the source. This hasn't resulted in any freezing yet but is a bit of an annoyance to run. It seems that FaceRig is not communicating properly with the Logitech webcam directly for some reason but that might be a place to start troubleshooting.

Logitech c270 has issues running in Windows 10, if memory serves. It may be allowing some use through facerig as a virtual camera until the machine catches up with itself. Might try a different camera and see if that resolves the issue. Just spitballin'.

Having the same issue with a Logitech C615.

We just pushed an update. We added a detection system to see if the camera does provide frames and reset it if it doesn't after a certain amount of time. This means that the webcam feed may flicker a bit instead of freezing.

Let us know if the update helped.
