Good lower end WebCams for FaceRig?
So with the new tracking out my dirt old webcam is actually working with the software, but I still have an issue because the video ends up being "grainy." This video noise makes the avatar twitch all about excessively, and it doesn't seem as though changing settings will fix that.

So rather than paying $100+ on a high end camera, are there any cheaper webcams anyone recommends that don't have this kinda of noise issue to them?

The C310 from Logitech is around 30$ and has had very good results reported with FaceRig :) We actually have one of them in the office (we have quite a few webcams here, for testing purposes). If you want to go with an even lower price one, I'm sure you'll find something to work well with FaceRig (maybe the C270 -around 20$?)

That being said, even most chinese no-brand webcams that can do a decent resolution and 30fps work well with FaceRig. Will wait for users to suggest other webcams though as I really don't want to seem like I'm advertising Logitech (they're just the ones I personally use at home so they come to mind easily)
I am using the Winner of all tests I read and watched: The Logitech C920 Pro HD Webcam! (yeah again logitech)

It's for now the best that you can get, but it costs 75$ (I paid 65€ on amazon.de)!
And there are 5 or even 6 logitech in the Top 10!!!
If logitech should get a award, then for their webcams (and that is the only component that I have from them)

Hurrah for new tracking :D

There are actually settings in the program that will help you with the twitching caused by grainy video input (but you will sacrifice some responsiveness):
Upping the value of the "smoothing" slider for head rotation, translations and on most expressions and on retargeting, should give exactly the effect that you are looking for : smoother animation, BUT it does indeed come with a bit lower responsiveness.

Typical video cam sensors also produce less grain in stronger light, so you can maybe you can also try that :).

I picked up a Sony PlayStation Eye Camera for 7 bucks on amazon. works great. Although you do have to buy a driver for it to work with windows. DO a search for CL PS3 Eye Driver and i think it was 2 bucks, payed for it with paypal.

I did pick up a c270 for only $15, doesn't have the noise of the old cam. Things are functioning a lot better for sure.
