Facerig vs facerig pro?
What is the difference between FaceRig for $9.99
and the $43.33 FaceRig Pro Upgrade? Is the upgrade just new masks like cats, dragons ect? or does it do something else? What makes pro worth 30 dollars moar than 10 bucks?

Can someone explain whats the difference?

On the technical side there are no differences, Classic has exactly the same avatars, props, features as Pro, except for two things:
  • It has "pro" in the FaceRig logo that appears around the program
  • You are allowed to make more than the equivalent of $500/month with it.

(One extra reason some people buy it btw, is just to support the developers *link*)

For more info about the exact rules about monetization, I will point you to the EULA, especially section 6a and b:
(EULA can be found on the steam store page or here: http://store.steampowered.com/eula/274920_eula_1 )

Originally posted by EULA:
6. Permitted Use for the Audio and Video Content created with the Program
By using Program, you can create audio and video content, featuring Avatars, Backgrounds and/or Accessories. This audio and video content may be kept private or made public at your discretion. Some restrictions apply, as follows:

a) The video or audio content created with the FaceRig, FaceRig Classic or FaceRig Pro versions of the Program must never be sold or gated from the public behind pay-walls, including but not limited to admission-type fees or paid subscriptions unless specifically approved by Holotech in a separate personalized Agreement. Content created with FaceRig Studio is not subject to such limitations.

b) The use of the audio and video content created with FaceRig or FaceRig Classic (the "Content") is further governed by the following limitations and licenses: if the Content is not being monetized by the Licensee, its use is governed by Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). If the content is monetized by the Licensee on video sharing websites and streaming services such as YouTube, TwitchTV or similar, and the Gross monthly revenue derived by the Licensee from this activity is less than the equivalent of 500 US dollars, then the use of such Content is governed by Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0). No other types of monetization other than the ones listed above are permitted for Content created with FaceRig or FaceRig Classic.

The limitations listed above in paragraph (b) above do not apply to the audio and video content created with FaceRig Pro or FaceRig Studio.

If you use FaceRig in for example video's on youtube with advertisements or on Twitch with advertisements or subscription, you can make money with it. Of the total average per month is below $500, you can use Classic, if it is above, you need to buy the Pro upgrade.

Hold on so if u buy regular its 10.00 a month or however much it is? Or is it 1 time payment? So confused.
Holotech Studios  [developer] Jul 6, 2015 @ 10:05pm
One time payment, is not per month.
In Early access is 10 USD. Once that ends ( in a few hours) it will be 15.

There are no technical differences between FaceRig classic and the Pro DLC.

FaceRig Pro is used by content creators (streamers/twitch broadcasters/youtube channels) who make more than $500 a month from the channel the content is being featured on.

If you make less than $500, you can safely stream with FaceRig Classic.

The methods that we use to verify this are not made public.

That seems sketchy as heck. If your gonna sell a product at least be honest in your methods to collect info.

This is actually very common, for example Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, Steam etc.etc. all collect data over you and your usage, but do they make public what exactly and how? No. (Or at least not easily findable)

Thats not the same thing. Facebook, and Steam are its own websites that collect info from its users that sign up for it. This however is a downloadable program that ppl can use, however isnt connected to websites like youtube or other video sharing sites. So to sit here and to suggest that the devs have ways in finding out infomation (that isnt even linked to this game or program its sold on), sounds very skecthy if they are not going to tell ppl how they are doing this.

And now you are filtering out Facebook and Steam, but what about Microsoft and Apple? Also, with the download / installation of the program, you agree to the EULA, which, in section 2a says the following:

You acknowledge that Holotech may collect data derived from Your using of the Software and Holotech reserves the right to compile, save, use and analyze such information. The collection and storage of the above data is solely for the purposes of facilitating the functionality of the Software, assisting Holotech in assessing improvements to it and for digital management purposes.

And now a quote from the microsoft EULA:
Originally posted by Microsoft EULA:

Microsoft may use this information solely to improve our products or to provide customized services or technologies to you and will not disclose this information in a form that personally identifies you.

And the apple EULA:
Originally posted by Apple EULA:

Seems familiar?

In summary:
Don't want your info collected by Holotech? Don't use the program.
Do you want to use the program? Keep to the rules and the data collected will be only visible to them and destroyed when no longer needed.

(Also a note: I'm not a part of Holotech Studios, I'm only a person helping out on the forums voluntairaly)
