Webcam zooming possible in Facerig?
I am using the Logitech c920 and inside it's own software, I am able to zoom in to show only my face, and am wondering if there is a way to do that within the facerig config settings.

Let me explain....

I am a streamer, but I suffer from photophobia, and light hurts my eyes quite a bit. Because of this my house is blacked out, and I play/stream with no lights on. In order to interact with my viewers, I use Facerig, as I cannot be lighted to show my actual face without it being painful. The c920 and Facerig do a pretty good job of capturing my face in order to let me overcome this obstacle.

When I enable picture-in-picture in Facerig, I notice that the camera is zoomed way out and was wondering if there would be a way to zoom in the webcam from facrig as I believe it will help the camera capture my face in the dark better. Currently when I zoom in with the Logitech software and save it, the moment I start up facerig it zooms back out all the way.

I cannot thank Holotech Studios enough for this program and it's ability to allow me to do something I enjoy. For me Facerig is not a gimmick....it is the only way in which I can have a presence on my stream and interact with the people that stop by. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Hi there,

Thank you for your kind words and support.
Unfortunately there is no way to zoom in the camera feed at this time.
You could just bring the camera closer to your face or see if there are camera settings which allow for zoom in. Sorry we can't be of more help with this.

In the Logitech Webcam Controller software, go into the advanced settings and under the Camera Control section you can check to see if enabling the "Low Light Compensation" option helps (sometimes I may turn that option off to get a smoother motion from my webcam, but then I would have some nearby lamps on to help improve the lighting on my face, but in your case where you are light-sensitive and play with no lights on, then it might work better for you with that option On).

Aside from what Aty mentioned, in my experience with using FaceRig, it seems to do a good job at recognizing my face if I'm close to my webcam (within a couple of feet or so), and even if I'm a bit further back (4 to 5 feet, but much more than that it may start to lose the tracking).

However, another thing you could try is after you have FaceRig fully loaded, then go back to the LogitechWebcam Controller software and under the Camera Control section is a "Zoom" slider. Try manually adjusting that (slide it to the right to zoom-in) and you can check to see if it's working in FaceRig by cycling through the Toggle Picture in Picture and you can then see if your webcam is zoomed-in, if so then you keep cycling until it's back to just showing the FaceRig avatar character.

Anyways, this is assuming that you have the same Logitech Webcam Software installed that I do (my webcam is a Logitech C170 model, it's a cheaper model but still seems to do a good enough of a job for me) then you should be able to access the same / similar options as I mentioned, which checking for the Downloads on Logitech's website, it appears the same "Camera Controller" utility comes as part of the software for the C170 and c920 models (and a few other).
If you don't already have it, you can get from their site at:
http://support.logitech.com/en_us/category/webcams-and-security
(Click on "Webcams" to expand that section, find your camera model there and click on the "More" button below it, then the "Downloads" link and "Download Now" button.

Good luck.

Thanks for the help.

Once you start up Facerig, the Logitech software becomes inoperable and gives you the message that another program is using the webcam and if you stop that program you can reconnect and modify the setting.

It was both a hope and a long shot for me, but I thought I would give it a try.

Try this; Before running FaceRig, first run the Logitech Webcam Software. You can close the main window (so it won't then be actively accessing your webcam at the time) but it should still be running and with an icon in your Windows Tray. Right-click on that icon and choose the "Logitech Webcam Controller", expand the "Webcam Options", go to the "Advanced Settings" then go to the "Camera Control" tab and from there you can either check or un-check the "Low Light Compensation" option (to what you think best, in your case, maybe have it checked) and also have access to the Zoom slider.

Leave the Webcam Controller utility window open and now launch FaceRig and have it fully load in. If all goes well, then FaceRig should be working and have access to your webcam, but you still will have access to your Webcam Controller utility and be able to adjust the Zoom settings and such if need be and "Apply".

Doing this seems to work fine on my computer.

That did indeed work amazingly well, and I look forward to streaming again later today to see if Facerig keeps up better with my actions.

I cannot thank you enough!
