Some QOL suggestions :)
I've been playing this game for hours straight and have been really enjoying it! I'd love to add some of my own struggles, findings, and thoughts on how it can be improved :)
(Please bear with me as I got passionate lol.)

Quality of life suggestions
Staff & Customers
  • general - I noticed that if you pin a staff's work area and the middle circle falls around the edges of a tavern, the staff will actually go outside. I think this shouldn't happen at all. I struggled a lot trying to figure out why my cooks weren't on their stations and the customers were leaving, and finally figured that the middle part of an 8 radius I set falls somewhere in between the walls/edges so they were trapped outside. I think there should be some kind of "out of bounds" area (using the very middle circle) where maybe the color turns red or you can't place it at all when you're outside the walls to avoid this confusion from happening.
  • cooks - Have their status be specific to what they're cooking/equipment they're using. If possible, you can even have a temporary "waitlist" of what they will do next. It would also help specify the "waiting for food producer" notification we get and what to do with it. For example, seeing a lot of "Waiting for Lamb Grill" notification will tell me it's popular and that I need to add more lamb grills in the kitchen.
  • customers - Show what food they specifically ordered so we know what/who they're waiting for, and can figure out ways to fix and optimize the leaving problem (for example, whenever I expand my tavern, I forget to scale up the amount of cooks in the kitchen and always get confused who's in charge of what.) There's a lot of radius to keep track of so I think this can help find out the issue.
  • staff upgrades - I understand the reason for using points to upgrade staff, since it helps pad out more time to grind after unlocking everything in a few hours. But hopefully when more updates come out and new stuff can be unlocked, we can switch it to a different currency (maybe using the gold/money instead) since staff is expandable similar to equipment, and the more you expand your tavern the more staff you will need. It will feel less like a time-locked grind and people who have already upgraded everything can have more things to spend their money on.

    Management
  • Staff panel/tab - I think the staff tab takes up too much of the screen. Half of the time I open it to find out who's in charge of a certain place or see who's not doing anything at a glance without having to struggle finding them in the crowd, but then in order to even locate each staff I have to click so many buttons and it takes up the whole screen that I can't even see anything on the floor anymore. Maybe you can make the staff panel 1/3 of the screen so we can have enough space for panel, individual information, and the tavern floor itself. Suggested fix: smaller text, the tabs have only images of staff instead of including their position/titles to make it shorter, remove the salary column (we don't really need to keep it in the overview when it's already in the individual information, and when you expand and make so much money it wouldn't even matter by then).
  • Staff names - I also think it'd be nice to just click on a name/picture in the tab and it'll automatically locate and take you directly to the staff on the floor.
  • views - once you expand a lot it's sometimes hard to keep track of where everyone is. I think a layer view of the radius filtered by staff would be nice, so we can see in a glance which areas aren't covered yet. (Sometimes when I want to know if there's a waitress in this area, I have to keep clicking each individual waitress one by one to check)

    Building & Decorating
  • building mode - It'd be nice to be able to move everything around without having to keep individually clicking items and clicking "move". This can also apply when buying multiple decorations and items. I think it'll be a smoother experience if we can keep placing items instead of placing them one at a time and clicking the icon again and again.
  • Editing rooms? - I wonder if it's possible to move or rotate rooms instead of demolishing them? This would be great to have in the building mode so we don't have to keep demolishing everything when we keep expanding and reorganizing the layout. Sometimes I just want to move them.

    Miscellaneous
  • Cellars - I think the cellar is a bit confusing. It doesn't have enough information on what it's really doing or what it's actually affecting (Does it all stack? Does it have a radius/area of effect? What's the limit?). It seems there's an invisible range since it doesn't affect those that are farther away from it, or maybe it's inconsistent (I have one table that doesn't match the other tables' affected bonuses within the same area). I just think it needs more information that is also available and visible to what it's affecting. (for example, having a keg with a 10% increase price should be included in a bar's information on where it's getting bonuses)
  • tips - I've seen discussions about the manual tips and also the upcoming companion in the roadmap, but I just wanted to share some ideas as well. I actually like clicking the tips, I think it serves well as a mini mini game (like all idle games have). The only thing that's tedious about collecting tips is the fact that they are relatively small, and you can easily missclick the table which can be frustrating when you're trying to do it fast. I think it'll be easier if we can collect all the tips in one table by being able to click anywhere on the entire table instead, at least in the beginning before we can unlock the companion.

    Future Feature Suggestions
    Customization
  • Equipment level ups - I understand the equipment changes colors whenever they level up, but it would also be cooler if we can customize them! (I just max leveled the beds and the yellow is.. not my first choice) Maybe we can use the white outline instead to change the color when you hover over an equipment to see what their level is (White on level 1, yellow for 2, etc.). Or at least have the option to customize it after reaching the max level.
  • Pillars & dividers - I think it'd be cool to be able to place single walls and pillars for extra customization on the layout. (I know we don't really see them unless we're totally zoomed out, but I think it can allow for more unique layout designs)
  • Some other ideas: custom colors/patterns for tables, counters, cabinets, and carpets!

    Ambience & sound effects
  • lighting - I saw in one of the updates that the lighting was changed since the demo to find a nice middle ground. It's amazing, although I think the dark lighting in the demo looked fantastic as well! I was hoping we can have a toggle for darker lighting since it would be perfect for a cozy night ambience.
  • sounds - This one is more of a personal take, but I think it'll be nice to have calmer sound effects to match the amazing visuals and ambience of the game (specifically the coin clanking sounds a bit harsh on the ears). The nice camera angles can give this game that really good "ASMR" vibe, and can be just as satisfying to watch while the simulation plays out. (I listen to a lot of ambient ASMR so that's what prompted this idea) Specific suggestions: softer coin sound, softer murmurs/faint laughter, more defined sizzles, etc.

These are the ones I've gathered so far after 10+ hours of playing. Thank you devs for the super cozy game! Looking forward to more updates!

Trays. Give trays to the waitresses so they can pick up multiple orders at once and deliver them instead of having to do so one by one.

Wow first of all thank you for taking your time and giving all the feedback!

Staff & Customers
  • general - We can and will definitely improve the idle state of the workers, going out of bounds is a problem.
  • cooks/customers - Status can be improved you're right. Telling which customer is waiting for which food/drink more specifically could be done, noted! Also as a side note we may add the option to assign a worker to a single station, will test and see.
  • staff upgrades - We are aware of the problem and will change the way staff upgrades work asap. We are working in a solution that can be also integrated with the quest system we are working on.

Management
  • Staff panel/tab - Right now we are working on UI scaling so that smaller screens can adjust as their liking. With that added, I'll probably make a rework there. It is made like that so that everyone can read easily but you are right, with UI scaling added, I can make a cleaner looking panel.
  • Staff names - You can click the arrow button to the right to select the staff, we will add that to the staff name/picture just like you said so navigation could be easier.
  • views - Layer view is a great idea, noted!

Building & Decorating
  • building mode - Item moving can be improved noted! Also you can place multiple items by holding shift.
  • Editing rooms - Its a hard problem because an item could be just between two rooms. But maybe we can do it just for the single rooms (bedrooms). Noted! We'll see what we can do.

Miscellaneous
  • Cellars - Cellar system is broken right now. I mean it works but it can stack indefinitely and breaks the economy. We will change the way it works in a meaningful way asap. It will probably be live in the next update.
  • Tips - We have controller support for devices like Steam Deck on our roadmap, and because collecting tips will be very hard for handheld devices like that, we are thinking of giving the player an option just like you said, that the player can collect tips within a radius or something similar.

Customization
  • Equipment level ups - Great idea, noted!
  • Pillars & dividers - We can give an option to place archways as decorations. Also we will make a button to show/hide walls even when zoomed in so the player can toggle.
  • Pillars & dividers - More customization options and painting walls is already in our roadmap. We can add carpets and others too noted!

Ambience & sound effects
  • lighting - It could be done we will consider it, noted!
  • sounds - Also noted! We will try to improve our sound effects.

Thank you again, your kind words makes us really happy and gives us huge motivation!
