Radius Limitation?
Hello!

I've started playing & I cannot figure out how to manage the incredibly short radius on the bar, beer keg and the kitchen counter.

I thought upgrading them would increase the radius, but it doesn't.

Is the expectation that I need have multiple kitchen tiles with counters and chefs dotted all over my slowly expanding inn? As well as multiple bars too?

This is odd, it's discouraging growth of the inn, no? Why has the game been designed in this way?

Anyone know if the dev(s) have plans to remove the radius limitations so players can design and run their inn in a sort of, you know, normal bar/restaurant layout?

Any guidance would be appreciated, cheers :conwayheadscratch:

Hello Broken Nose Chris,

First, let us explain why we wanted to set up an area: this is completely related to the natural design of the game. In the game, happiness is a factor that influences the number of customers. If customers are not satisfied, fewer of them will come, and income will decrease. Since the current map is 19x19, if an order is placed from a soup cauldron located too far away, the customer will likely leave unhappy before the order arrives. To prevent this, we designed the menu system and area zones. This way, tables within a certain area are supplied by food stations within the same area.

If you have any alternative suggestions for this issue, please let us know, as we try to implement as many of your ideas as possible.

In response to your questions:

We haven't added a radius upgrade yet.
Absolutely, we want to allow you to have multiple kitchens.
Perhaps we could add a 'no challenge mode' option at the beginning, where happiness is completely disabled. The radius system would be removed, and customers would have unlimited patience.

Thanks for the quick reply. I can totally understand how designs like this can happen in a game when the dev team consists of 1 or 2 people.

Tavern Master video game has already figured out this problem, I would suggest one of you playing that for research on how to fix this. You just set the waiting time/internal patience bar to be longer for customers and remove the yellow radius circles.

I would also recommend reducing the size of the Inn tiles, it's kind of at a giant warehouse level size at the moment. Would an Inn have ever got to that size? Instead consider multiple floors, which was also implemented well in Tavern Master. Maybe that's also part of this design problem.

At the moment, the game is borderline unplayable for me. I'll return to the game if it ever gets fixed. Good luck!

Fun little game you guys have made.

For the radius issue my mind went to some kind of shuttle and distribution point system for moving things to a wider area (bus boys and servers stations maybe?), would allow for more layouts but keep the flow of materials and distance as game play mechanics.
