Raptor: Call of the Shadows 2?
Hi,

Is this like the old Apogee game, Raptor: Call of the Shadows? Because that game was very cool. I will buy this anyway since the price is a steal but any info if the dev was inspired by Raptor?

Yes, that was a key inspiration.

Holey moley does it ever look like it, right down to the slow explosion death as you start to burn up.

I loved that scary sound in Raptor when your ship was on fire.

Yeah same with getting hit when your shields are down, such a harsh metal sound

Bought this game, and it is 110% a spiritual successor to Raptor, in so many ways that I can't even list them here.

If you loved Raptor and were a hardcore fan of that game, you should buy Revolution Ace, no joke.

Yes. I had an old 486 in our holiday house, and for 10 years I would fire it up only to play Raptor, for one week a year, and increase the score. I think I did the whole thing 3 or 4 times. Then, 2 years ago, my father went there, and...threw that crate in the bin. Raptor gone, with my profile. That was a terrible blow.

I don't have the guts to install Raptor in a Win 7 machine, thus I found this replacement and can recognize the spirit. Anyhow, Raptor was better, imho. But it's gone.

Dosbox man, it isn't even hard. Also you can buy Raptor Call of the Shadows on GOG that directly works in W7. That also uses dosbox but comes preconfigured. So double click the icon and it starts.

Yeah Raptor is extremely easy to get going these days, after all we're in the golden era of gaming. There is even a version of Steam.

I similarly had an amazing profile with all the best weapons as a kid that has been lost on old computers. But I was able to rebuild a similar jet with a bit of effort on the modern version.

But yeah Revolution Ace fills that same niche very nicely.
