Game Will Not Start/Instant Crash on Startup
Greetings,

Like the title says the game will not start, I launch the game through steam and it sits at a black screen before windows tells me the program is unresponsive. I've waited to see if it was just a long start up but it never passes the black screen to reach the main menu, I've also tried a complete re-install of the game which did not work and I've verified the integrity of the cash which also resulted in nothing.

Reading on your post guidelines I've never used or downloaded a trainer for Darkwood and haven't even played it since at least Alpha V4 or 5 so I don't think I even have a save file anymore and even if I did it would be VERY outdated.

Link to my Log file: https://pastebin.com/acuDMcYL

My specs: Windows 10 64bit, Geforce GTX 970, 16gb RAM (2x8gb)

Alpha Version: 10 Hotfix 4

Finaly if I wasn't clear enough in explaining my issue please feel free to let me know and I'll attempt to describe it more effectively or provide video evidence. I'm hoping someone will be able to help me out I really loved this game and just want to be able to play it again.

Hi, the log file stops when trying to load controller libaries. Do you have any custom devices plugged in (like a steering wheel)? Is there by any chance a folder with the name "crash" in it in Darkwood's installation directory? If so, please attach the log file that should be there.

Thanks for the quick reply,

I can't find any folder or even a file with "crash" in the directory and I don't have any controllers plugged in at all.

My only guess would be that maybe its something to do with my keyboard? I use a Corsair K70 Lux and I know the software has caused issues with other games like Mass Effect Andromeda. I also have a Mionix Naos 7000 mouse, USB Microphone (Blue Yeti) and a HyperX Cloud2 headset plugged in but that's it.

Sorry if that's not very helpful if you need anything else just let me know.

You could try unplugging the keyboard and see if that helps. If not, please wait until the next version of Darkwood and let me know if the issue is resolved :)

I can confirm its Corsair's Utility Engine causing the crash, I quit the program and the game launched fine and within seconds. So I can at least play the game I just won't have any of my lighting effects on my keyboard lol, thanks again for the help and I hope you'll be able to fix this bug :)

I'm happy you got it working and thanks for getting back with a workaround!

Just as a heads up you may want to consider doing a PSA post on the forums about this issue, Corsair keyboards are quite a popular brand so not disclosing the games issue with Corsair's Utility Engine may lead to lower sales.
