I wonder if you can move the steam version to a different folder to make it a 'desktop version only' (that way maybe steam wont accidentally detect it and update it or rewrite save files when you do have steam running).
I plan on keeping v1.3 as my main non-steam desktop version and v1.4 (which might leave beta this year) as my steam version with cloud saves (because I prefer v1.3 overall).
1.3 Should not have any cloud sync, your saves are local, they wanted to add that feature in 1.4 but its been 2 years since than.
In steam just go to Darkwood, Properties, Updates, Automatic Updates and choose only update when i start the game. If you want to be safe, go to betas and choose 1.3 aswell.
It could take a good while until 1.4 might get officially released anyway. They said they would continue working on it at the start of 2023. But its been a few years (2) since they announced 1.4 and it doesn't change that much for pc players anyway. The prerelease can be played under betas though. Anyway, you should not worry that much about cloud sync in this case.
I probably should have mentioned the mod but it's the "Hard Mode" mod. Is that the one you thought it was?
Yep
Probably shouldn't worry about it.
Just make sure it doesn't update accidentally.
