Any tips for surviving in the Swamp?
I got to the Swamp in Darkwood, I think I'm on Day 22 so far, and I keep dying a LOT. Any tips for surviving in the swamp? When to use skills, what to use gas on, weapons to use, etc.?

If you took Runner, then it is your dedicated "get home" perk. The infinite stamina will help a lot when you need to make the mad dash to get home through all that much.

By this point in the game, you're expected to have a pistol and shotgun; the enemies were balanced around you having firearms. Notice how all of the new enemies have ranged attacks in addition to attacks (or natural speed, in the Spiders' case) that allow them to close the distance? It's better to use a shotgun shell than to die, so don't be stingy with ammo.

Upgrade to at least the shovel. The old nailboard just won't really cut it anymore. The axe and sickle have higher damage potential than the shovel, but its huge swing is much more forgiving for hitting the new enemies.

Always bring a flare and/or lantern with you. Aside from their uses in dark areas, they are the only things that will help you against enemies with a dark mist shell.

Doesn't the sickle do as much damage as a nail board? I could be wrong about that, but it definitely does less damage than the shovel.

DPS is a thing. You can put out damage faster with the sickle than with most other weapons thanks to its charge speed and multiple hits.

Thanks for this, but after I posted this I relaunched and finished the rest in one sitting lmao. Really good game though, will 100% replay it in the future

I somehow always confuse sickle with pitchfork, sorry for that.

Upgrade the bench ASAP and start crafting firearms. You should already have a handgun. Pump shotty and hunting rifle should be your next choice.

For anyone still looking for some advice for the swamp, the best advice I can give for getting through the night there is to set up outside by the well instead of holing up inside. The first, and most obvious reason to do this is it gives you quick easy access to the instaheal the well provides for when things get hairy. Second it significantly lowers the risk of getting cornered by enemies because you're not confined to a room. Lastly this spot has access to a light source in the form of the weird eye thing on the ground, which means you don't have to run the generator at night and won't get punished for not doing so. I also helps a lot on some night events that cut your lights since it's unaffected by these.

I completely agree, it's such a great spot. The protective gas even covers that particular area (it's part of the hideouts grounds) so the floor gore will not interfere much (it only comes if you stray a little too far out).

My tip would be never use the generator in the swamp, the noise attracts more enemies making it tougher. Lock yourself in the room next to the well since you can barricade all entries and got a quick path to the well incase you need to run. This spot is very good against banshee since they can't damage barricades too, also in the swamp use the axe for melee with damage and durability upgrades as it can 2 hit anything you will face during the night(normal attack followed by a quick attack if still alive). Since there is a cabinet(also a safe under it) in that room its useful for storing night time materials such as wood, screws, traps and light sources.

If you keep lurking without light source on you can survive a full night using less than a quarter of a lanterns fuel or 2 flares max. Getting the 250 bonus money for surviving can pay that off. Also never use guns unless you are getting surrounded which is unlikely because it will attract more enemies if any are nearby.

Finished the game earlier today at day 25 and will restart on hard mode
