How to survive the night?
I'm in day 10, hiding in the Workbench room in the Dry Meadow hideout at night (Generator is ON), but still I get attacked every night and I can't manage to survive it.
What am I doing wrong? aren't they supposed not to come at all if I'm at hideout and the generator is ON?

A note in the first generator room explicitly states that enemies will come no matter what.

If you can't win in a straight fight, then use traps. A beartrap with broken glass on top of it will take out any enemy. You can also place gasoline trails and puddles that you can light.

It's not that you're doing anything wrong as such, it's just part of learning the game. I'd say just be patient with the learning curve, you'll get better at combat the more nights, and the more fails, you experience.

Along the way you'll figure out ways of securing the hideout enough to not become too over-run but you're still going to have to deal with stuff throughout the nights..

You'll improve at doing basic things like crafting, upgrading and buying weapons & survival items, which will in turn better prepare you for nights.

You might be confusing the generator with the oven. The oven produces protective gas which protects the hideout from floor-gore coming at night, where as the generator is just for keeping the lamps powered on, to illuminate the hideout. Light wont attract intruders it's just for improving visibility for you..

However, the light will protect you from shadows, so run to a working lamp when shadows come (they don't kill all the lamps), alternatively use a flare (shadows knock out most other light sources).

It sounds like the types of deaths you are experiencing are due to being confined to one room.. so stay mobile, keep moving or at least have the ability to move around, have multiple 'safe' places you can move to and from.

Thanks for the tips.

The floor-gore enemies still come at night to my house even when the generator is ON tho.. maybe I need to turn on the oven? is there an option to turn the oven ON/OFF that I missed?

Also when the shadows come to my hideout, I didn't see any lamps that kept working(?) it seems like they all went OFF.. :cryptosad:
I'll try using a flare thanks.

The oven you last used is considered your active oven and, by extension, your active hideout that is pumping out gas to ward off the red mist. This also determines where a single lamp will remain lit during Shadow events.
