Chapter Bug

Can someone confirm that the game still bugs and becomes unfinishable if you die during the Train-Wreck Doctor sequence? Completed Wolf & Musician quests and now have nowhere to go as I don't have the key and the Doctor has perma-vanished. The Underground tunnel is still locked, as in Doctor got away and the gate is now perma-closed.

I heard this was possible but those threads were from a patch or two ago so mostly just looking for confirmation. If it is true, I guess I have to start over... Again...

its a dream sequence. the doctor should still be there. If not search in between your house and the under ground entrance he usually stops there "waiting" for you

I'm not talking about that dream.

If you do the MUSICIAN quest (Where he drugs you after entering the train) you play as the Doctor for a brief dream (the one you are talking about) - Then afterwards, you have a different dream as the protaganist.

I'm talking about the well known bug where dying in this particular dream (where you must escape from chompers in pursuit) results in the Doctor (NPC) 100% despawning with the key to end the chapter, saying "At least now you've done something good for once" before you pass out for a few hours.

I'm simply asking for confirmation that this wasn't fixed, seeing as I've travelled 100% of the map, completed all quests, and the Doctor is nowhere to be found. No option to 'escort' him to the underground tunnels, and not on the map, so I can't kill him for the key.

Perma stuck.

OH GOTCHA yeah that one...I ran into that problem. I just shot his ass on my next playthrough and looted the key....then completed the kids quest for teh violin and was like um ok...went back there...got drugged and I was like..,,hehe I'm being cutscened by a dead man....LOL

This is how far I was before the game decided to throw me that curve-ball. Two hideout storages full of this stuff, with the entire house teeming with broken glass, bear-traps, and gasoline. I'd killed so many creatures in the world that there weren't any left to attack my house at night time.

Yes, this bug is still there. From my experience, the only way to complete chapter 1 is to survive the dream and then agree to take the doctor to the underground tunnels. But then you just unlock the door and the game tells you that you finished chapter 1 so you really aren't missing out on anything.
BTW I recommend backing up your save files, you can find those under Steam\userdata\your_steam_id\274520

I started a new playthrough today, got to the Doctor at Train Wreck by doing Wolf's quest, led him to the tunnels... Went into the tunnels, and... Gate still locked.

Ugh - It seems the only way to officially clear the chapter in this current build is to just kill the doctor to get the key. I just want to be able to say I've done it, even if all I'll get is a "Chapter 1 Done" message and nothing more.

So far, dying in the Doctor Dream (Musican Quest) results in Doctor despawning with the key.
Leading Doctor to the tunnels (Wolf Quest) results in Doctor despawning with the key.

Killing the Doctor after either quest seems like the only way to get the key. I'm not going to do the Musician quest just to survive the dream and take a risk with Doctor despawning if I go to the UGTunnels again.
