Trick is not to make any noise. If you can't see something, they can't see you - You can hear them - And you better make sure they don't hear you. I've let an infestation grow at two locations in my house - It doesn't prevent an attack, but creatures seem to become a little less interested if the place is crawling with disease.
Just for the hell of it, I've made a 'gasoline carpet' in the main infested room. If I do get attacked in there, I can at least take out the infection, as well as every creature in the entire house (probably including myself, if I'm not careful) with a well aimed matchstick. If I want to cook essence, I have to run through a lot of that infected garbage, but I'm willing to do it for testing purposes.
Nearly Day 20 - I'm stocking up to finally clear the chapter, though I have yet to find the Doctors house, seeing as I died during the Doctors dream sequence at the train-wreck.
