I tested this on the stream and the further you get with the safehouses, the better mushrooms The Three sell.
But these later safehouses are also more dangerous.
I personally made a bigger camp only in Hideout 2 and then eventually in Hideout 3.
Plus 2 gives you access to the village, and 2 and 3 you can set up in the same room as the generator. Personally I prefer 2, but 3 isn't that bad if monsters don't notice you. It's just that you're guaranteed to have chompers walking around every night, so if they do spot you it can be expensive to fight them.
Hideout 4 is the only hideout of chapter 2 so far, so that's all you get if you can access it lol
Behind Hideout 2 is definitely hideout 4, because you can make hideout 4 a fort if you have the materials. In hideout 4, i have all the fences built, all exterior windows/doors barricaded, broken walls replaced with furniture, and the main entrance into hideout 4 blocked with furniture which is supported by a tree. It allows me to walk around at night freely, but occasionally I do have to deal with a dog or two. I also have traps up so if something trys to break in, they usually run off from getting hurt.
