Game could be finished with one in-game day if you know what you're doing.
It has enough content in it to last you for awhile, and if you want, you could do challenge runs - which prolong it. I would heavily recommend against any mods, especially hardmode one - turns the game into a massive slog that you WILL get bored in.
Feel free to friend me if you need tips or directions/locations of stuff, for when you'll eventually be playing it.
I'm curious if there is anyone who has moved at a slower pace than me!
I really need to finish it. It's such a good horror game, and an amazing Survival game to boot.
I've hit Day 40 (in-game) and still in the Old Woods. I've searched like 90% of the map I think. I should be ready to move on but just taking my time.
One tip - if you play like me where you cautiously take your time, resources are not as big an issue as you think and the difficultly is not so bad. I have a ton of ammo for for all my guns and so many other resources that I've been selling it to the trader. I have 2K+ rep with him which grows because there really is a lot of items to discover (and sell) on the map. If you want to rip through the game ASAP, then yeah I think this game can be really hard and resources can be an issue. But if you slow down and savor the game, you can appreciate it more AND the game gets earier (IMHO)
I think in general players choose to play it like a survival game (or story game) and actually complete it, as in experience everything and survive it (over and over again) instead of trying to avoid as much of the gameplay as possible as if it were a speedrun.
