i have the ammo for the ak but i cant reload?

You probably have medium caliber bullet. No, you can't reload with that, it only reloads the hunting rifle. For the AK you need to find magazines. Those are quite rare.

Yeah I do. The irony is the description says it fires a "medium sized bullet."

Yeah, i know. Though at the same time have fun loading a single bullet into a assault rifle without detaching the magazine, which is something impossible to do unless you got a nother magazine in this game.
