(The wiki clearly [darkwood.fandom.com] says that you wont get anything out of killing the bride)
The bride (non chomper) leaves a corpse but no loot in pc version.. probably the same on console version, unless they reworked that to.
When the wedding event was first implemented into the early access version of the game (on PC) the chomper bride didn't vanish upon death (and possibly did drop loot), then there was a patch/update that changed this..
In subsequent playthroughs when I noticed that the bride (and loot) was now despawning upon death (instead of leaving a corpse) I assumed that it was an intended change (to be honest I thought maybe I was misremembering whether of not the bride used to vanish, either way I just accepted that it now didn't.. plus I kind of liked that it didn't leave a corpse or drop loot, it felt like a cool lore thing).
Some years later when the game was ported to console the devs made it so the chomper did leave a corpse and did drop loot (fabric & shiny stone). At first I thought this was because maybe the console devs (Crunching Koalas) wanted to change the event by attaching big rewards to it to make it a very worthwhile side quest..
..or perhaps if they had removed the HO1 'starter kit' crate which contains a fabric, allocating that starter kit fabric to in-game corpse loot instead would be a way to keep the same number of scavengeable fabrics in area 1.
When I learnt about the chomper bride change in the console version I started thinking maybe my vague recollection of a time when the bride didn't despawn in the PC version was perhaps true..
So I queried the PC devs (Acid Wizard) about the change and wondered if in fact it was a bug on the PC version and they said yes, they confirmed it was a glitch in the PC version likely caused by a subsequent patch (it just went unreported in the bug section for years so they were unaware of it).
They fixed it in v1.4, the bride now drops loot (just like the console version).. but 1.4 is still beta/testing, therefore the bug still exists in the current PC version v1.3 (so technically it's been fixed for 2+ years, it's just not live yet on PC). But as I mentioned earlier I kinda prefer how it mysteriously vanishes in 1.3 (plus I think adding an extra fabric to area 1 makes it a little too easy to fully level up your backpack early).
