Are there any jumpscares?
I've always been fond of the horror genre but the recent trends have...put me off. A rather rough childhood left me with major isues with jumpscares. Like one time one of my coworkers grabbed me from behind and I almost had a panic attack and was unable to move for like...a solid 10 mins.
SO my question is, does this game have any jumpscares? I'd love to give it a shot but even psych horror is plauged with this dumb and cheap gag and I just can't do em :/

There are very few moments that can be considered as "jumpscares" in Darkwood. Most times, game tries to scare you with tense atmosphere, and oddness of the world.

There is not really any jumpscares to speak of. There is sounds and stuff like that.

lot's of sounds and fast enemies in the dark. You'l be in for a spook but this game is great.

Not scripted but you could run into something that will make you jump. I ran into a big pack of insane dogs that all started barking at me. I tried to back up slowly but ended up walking into a bear trap outside my vision that snapped shut with a loud noise and then had the dogs run me down and kill me while stuck. Defintely made me jump.
Thanks pals, I think I'll give it a shot. At the very least I can give a dev that doesn't use such cheap tricks some #MoneyMoney :)

no intentional jump scares, quite a few unintentional i had though. Really good horror, nice story and mythology. I sometimes quit playing because I'm too psyched to continue, but the story drags me in. Qjuite impressed with it.

Bear traps, those bastards make me jump the most, usually when I hear something and turn then wham, jump right out of my skin. The only bit I'd say is more traditional jumpscare is staring at a particular enemy makes an image flash on-screen.

There are these monsters called Banshee's that when you look at them a scary face pops on your screen and they scream, kinda like that old maze game.

If it's the beartraps it's mostly cause I get distracted
