Does the generator consume more gasoline when more lights are on?

I don't think it does, but you should be able to get enough gas to have it on almost every night tbh.

If you're having trouble with gas then abandon your pursuit of the mostly useless serum tree (after you get eagle eye!) then trade in all your shrooms for gas. I also recommend buying enough nails and boards for 6/each and 2/each in your first week in-game in order to make hideouts 1 and 2 a breeze. Utilize that trader for everything.

When I was an uncaring hoarder in Chapter 1, I had like 90 boards and 25 cans of gas before I realized I wasn't helping myself at all with inventory space then I played optimally to what I needed every night.
