Barricading doors
Beginner question:

In the Silent Forest base I tried to block a door from the outside with one of the heavy wardrobes -> Enemies smashed through it then simply opened the door (should've expected that). Then I tried to block it from the inside and somehow the enemy simply managed to push the door open (i.e. the wardrobe wasn't a big resistance even though it is kind of hard to drag).

So how do I secure doors to my base the "right" way? Should I barricade it each night and remove the barricades in the morning?

Yes, barricade them up. Traps can also kill or dissuade enemies that were bashing on entrances.

Enemies will bash open window and door barricades, as well as furniture. There is a slight time to where after an enemy breaks a door barricade you can replace it in time. However, once you get a few days in, enemies will rarely ignore your house, even if you make no noise. They will break in and search for you. At this point you want to keep repairing a door barricade that gets broken while fending off ones that come in from other spots.
become the shovel knight. bash some savage skulls leave all your windows open.

That is certainly one method you can use if you have an abundance of wood/boards/nails by mid game.. But there might be times when you will want to move between rooms, even at night.. so really it's situational.

I guess how you choose to block the un-barricaded entry points is situational to.. Placing bear traps and glass traps outside barricaded windows can deter things from breaking in (or at least slow their entry down a lot and do damage to them before they come in).

..Placing the traps inside is a way of allowing them in first, dealing them some damage with the intent to kill them inside the hideout (easier to loot them this way).

As for unbarricaded doors, block them up any way you see fit, try different combinations of furniture. If the furniture is outside it will likely get smashed, but there still might be some situations where it works really well as an extra layer of defence.

..Placing furniture indoors can still help to hold them back a bit (plus if it's indoors, any stuff stored inside it is accessible). When they open the door and start pushing against the furniture you can sometimes quickly shut the door on them, if you are close by.

So it's kind of a trade off.. furniture outdoors may be more effective at delaying their entry, but it will cost resources to keep repairing. Furniture indoors might only slow their entry a bit but at least it probably wont get broken.

The best use for furniture is probably blocking off the few holes in walls that can't take a door. There are a few spots where you can place wardrobes in such a way that they can't be pushed in- or aside from the outside, which is enough to prevent entrace since enemies can't pull furniture at all. Breaking through these seems to be very rare for some reason, and it's mostly when stuff is placed in front of a doorway, barricaded or not, that the enemy considers smashing their way in.
