How scary is this game.
I'll keep this short. I'm a wuss. I don't tend to play horror games, but this one stuck out in the survival section of steam. I like survival games, and Darkwood looks interesting.

But in the other hand, this looks terrifying. I watched Markiplier play a bit of it, but I just want to know if this is horror dominated or if the horror is secondary to the survival.

Thanks for any responses.

I don't think it's scary to the point where you won't sleep at night, but it'll surely keep you uncomfortable at all times while playing.

I'm also a wuss, but i really enjoyed the horror aspect in this game, i don't think Darkwood is worth playing for survival only, althrough it's good, it's not same as other survival games, there's no hunger or thirst, resources don't respawn so you gotta move on after some time if you wanna stay in an area, don't worry though, there's more than enough.

It's more survival really, the horror element comes through fear of the dark and the unknown (long dark nights and dimly lit areas). Eerie sights and sounds create tension (and might give you the occasional jump).

The real fear factor comes into play during permadeath playthroughs.. when your character only has one life that's when fear of death becomes real (knowing that missteps and mistakes could lead to game over).

It's not horrific or gory though.

To be honest this game was more terrifying to me than any horror game i,ve played so far (and i've played games like outlast, amnesia or layers of fear), but it's probably because it has no jumpscares and actual horror.

Layers of fear is supposed to be more of a physological thing tho.
