Saving the game
So I was playing when night fell. I am in the meadow at the first hideout. I needed to quit the game but when I went to quit it said the last save was 20 minutes ago!

I couldn't use the stove to save as it said it was too dangerous but I had to quit so lost 20 minutes of game time. Makes me reluctant to go back to playing just yet as I'll just be repeating what I did last play.

Is there another auto-save trigger somewhere to prevent this happening? Perhaps it should save on quitting?

The game saves when you check the oven, talk to an NPC that has a dialogue screen, kill an important NPC, make a major area transition, survive until dawn, or die.

Nights really aren't that long. You couldn't have just paused or finished the night?

I have a real life that is more important and often doesn't wait for me reach whatever checkpoint I need to in a game.

Autosave only is fine but it must be implemented realistically.

Days are only something like 10 minutes long (I think?),
so that's the longest stretch you'd go without saving,
if you make sure to check the oven at least once when you get back to your hideout at night.
Otherwise you'll have to wait about 5 or so minutes for the dawn.
So 15 minutes tops. But it can feel a lot longer in a game like this.

Pause buttons exist for games; life doesn't wait on you to make a decision, unfortunately.

It was definitely 20 minutes, it said so when I exited.

Err fine, thanks for the help I think. Pause buttons are all well and good but they don't work when you switch your computer off. That's what saves are meant to be for.

Hi, I feel your pain about not being able to save during night time, unfortunately this is a technical limitation due to how the night event / scenario system is built and there is no way around that :(
