Darkwood Torrent uploaded by Developers for Free!
I just read an article. Awesome!

“If you don’t have the money and want to play the game, we have a safe torrent on the Pirate Bay of the latest version of Darkwood (1.0 hotfix 3), completely DRM-free. There’s no catch, no added pirate hats for characters or anything like that. We have just one request: if you like Darkwood and want us to continue making games, consider buying it in the future, maybe on a sale, through Steam, GOG or Humble Store. But please, please, don’t buy it through any key reselling site. By doing that, you’re just feeding the cancer that is leeching off this industry.”

I myself bought the game and have enjoyed it very much. I think they'll get more customers because of this. What a great move. I'm developing my own currently and am thinking of doing the same thing.

To be honest, if I didn't already own the game before knowing about this, I'd still buy it.

Everyone basically wants a piece of the pie, Steam wants a percentage, the publishers want a percentage, the reviewers also want some. Key reselling sites are no different.

If you don't want your keys on third party websites you will simply limit your key distributions to one or a handful of sources(Steam,GOG,GMG... etc).

The Idea of uploading your game to TPB for people to try It Is nothing but a publicity stunt period.

I want to buy this game, cause it looks so good, but when I read this... no, just no... never. Ok, I get the point, why devs do this, but I have problem with the way they do it. Really.... ??? They upload "free" version on PirateBay ? How about upload that " free" version on official game website and call it shareware or something similar or make some free weekend on Steam? Or just put a demo on Steam or some time restricted version... Its so many better ways to do, what you do. Ive simple dont buy a game, which devs propagate sites like TPB or other similar. You propagate your game, but you propagate torrent site either. And I dont good with that. And there is no excuse for not doing it similar way that I describe higher. So... I wont pirate your game, cause I wont pirate ANY game... Im not a thief... but I wont buy it either, cause your way of "advertising" your game is ridiculous.

Seriously...What is wrong with people these days. This is why I hate most people in modern life. You find absolutely anything to moan about. Get a life. Pathetic.

Are you... complaining about someone complaining?

We already have one thread full of people insulting each other over this topic, if you'd like to join that one.

You totally missed the point here. Third party key resellers should get their keys from license distributors (Which should be trusted and known reputable businesses aka Steam,GOG etc...). So If developers start handing out keys to random, unknown party's It's totally the developers fault.

'Should'. How do you know? Many keys are much cheaper then store equivalents, are people buying the product and then selling it for a cheaper price? Somehow I seriously doubt it. You have no idea how the key is obtained, most likely through pirating means that only profits the key resellers and not the devs.

G 2A have even introduced a random chest system where u open one and get a random key... so a grey market website using microtransactions to get potentionally pirated shady keys.

I for one support this choice entirely.
Using a service that 'shady' like TPB is not ideal. But it's a free place that anyone can access and they have servers to store it.

After watching a streamer play this, I will likely pirate it, and play now. Wishlist the game, and purcahse it when I can afford it.

Thank you Dev's. The game looks amazing. I for one will certainly take note of any games you develop in the future. Especially if this becomes a trend for your studio. Even if it's simply to support your studio.

10/10.

You could have worded this post differently instead of here are the directions to where to get the game for free...because that is not the point. The point is to see the honesty and how the dev is getting screwed and how he needs our help now more than ever

Acid Wizard Studio consists of three guys and a dog. For a very short period of time, we had a fourth Wizard.
