Games like Darkwood?
Is there anything that is compareable to the playstyle? Top-down survival horror? And please don´t tell me "Dont Starve".... no don´t.

+1 to Subterrain & Sunless Sea

Subterrain is really under-rated (as in, I'm surprised to see it recommended!), has a load of crafting and strategy options (e.g. which areas you attempt to clear / repair first and sneaky stuff like removing oxygen generators from the tutorial to allow expansion). Played it a long time ago in EA / beta, so I expect the balancing etc has improved a lot (it used to be brutally hard esp at late game).

Sunless Sea - not action and you need to understand it's a lot about resource management and 'failing while dying and passing things down to your children'. Early games will end quickly unless you spoiler / wiki it & it's mostly text based. Apart from that, it's really good (they also gave the DLC away free to backers, which was super nice).

Oh, and how could I forget this:

Check out the free standalone demo story!

Why no one mentioned Notrium ?

Sunless Sea is a fine game but I have a hard time asserting that the atmosphere of the two games is at all similar. Darkwood is far, far creepier. I would say that Sunless Sea is too...neat (in both senses of the word: clean-cut, and interesting)...to be ominous or scary. But that's just me!

Alien Breed both the newer and the older ones.

Misery mod for Stalker Call of Pripyat, very identical atmospheres. I actually wouldn't be very surprised if the Darkwood developers got some inspiration from Stalker/Misery.

The Cat Lady, Silent Hill 1-4, Betrayer, Sunless Sea, Pathologic...IDK what else

If you liked the psychological ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, you can try Lone Survivor, but it's 2d.
If you liked the top-down survival-y crafty gameplay, try Teleglitch.

I know this is a bit off on a tangent (and it's neither a survival horror or top down).. but I think on some levels Darkwood is comparable to This War of Mine. I love both games for similar reasons.

Both are really interesting survival games, with the emphasis on survival rather than combat. Both have combat mechanics that are tricky, and at times desperate and awkward (not arcade like combat).

Both are excellent examples of 'inventory management' style games, with just the right amount of resource management and crafting (not over the top like Dont Starve). Base management is integral to both games.

They share a similar learning curve.. to inexperienced players they can feel like really difficult games at first, but if you put a lot of hours in you can master them, which is really rewarding.

Both are good examples of how a 2D world can be more immersive than a 3D 'style over substance' extravaganza.

Both very replayable, it always feels like you can do things a bit differently in each new playthrough, constantly adapting different methods (or choosing slightly different paths).

(I really need to try Sunless Sea)

I have to agree with this. From the atmosphere to the light and sound stealth systems these games are quite similar. I just wish This War of Mine allowed a more combat focused run. I don't care for the depression system.

Sunless sea is a game I really want to like, but no matter how much I play of it, I just kinda can't. You spend way too much time in crappy or crappily armed ships. Minimal trade with slow ship speeds. It has a cool world and stories, but the game to get there just doesn't feel that great.

This War of Mine pick Roman. He is pretty much a one man army with any weapon and has a S combat rank. Used him to clear out bandits and army alike over 80 days. He is good at stealth and with fire arms.

Surprised nobody mentioned Project Zomboid.

It's got a few things in common with Darkwood in terms of gameplay but it doesn't have an actual story, it's a top-down survival game with zombies and the depth of the game can be fun when it's not annoying and boring.

Personally I find myself having more fun with games like The Long Dark and well, Darkwood because they feel like they're slightly less of a chore and they're more atmospheric (and they're not "zombie" games for a change).

I suppose The Long Dark also qualifies and it's pretty interesting, the sandbox is worth it if you like sandboxes but unfortunately the development of the "story mode" seems stalled.

I don't think that The Long Dark is that good anymore! I played it for 320 hours until I realized how annoying and broken the weigh limit system is and all the stupid updates that they make focusing more on boring realism. In recent update they added realistic cooking in which you need to spend 15 min to cook food with all the micromanagement where before it was just 1 min. I wish the game creators focused more on exploration rather than annoying realism. At some point its going to be more fun to do my taxes than to play this game. The saddest part is that in the past I thought it was second best game after Darkwood. Now I just think its broken and never will be repaired.

Yup, I agree. The beauty of The Long Dark lied in its simplicity.
