Edit: The devs stated that Teleglitch was one of their bigger inspirations.

Both are really interesting survival games, with the emphasis on survival rather than combat. Both have combat mechanics that are tricky, and at times desperate and awkward (not arcade like combat).
Both are excellent examples of 'inventory management' style games, with just the right amount of resource management and crafting (not over the top like Dont Starve). Base management is integral to both games.
They share a similar learning curve.. to inexperienced players they can feel like really difficult games at first, but if you put a lot of hours in you can master them, which is really rewarding.
Both are good examples of how a 2D world can be more immersive than a 3D 'style over substance' extravaganza.
Both very replayable, it always feels like you can do things a bit differently in each new playthrough, constantly adapting different methods (or choosing slightly different paths).
(I really need to try Sunless Sea)
Yep, totally agree! Closest thing to Darkwood, even though not as hard or grim, still has a lot in common!

I have to agree with this. From the atmosphere to the light and sound stealth systems these games are quite similar. I just wish This War of Mine allowed a more combat focused run. I don't care for the depression system.
Sunless sea is a game I really want to like, but no matter how much I play of it, I just kinda can't. You spend way too much time in crappy or crappily armed ships. Minimal trade with slow ship speeds. It has a cool world and stories, but the game to get there just doesn't feel that great.
