Light at Night
Hey guys just having a small question i read in a guide that it would be better not to waste gas on the generator and on light and just to pretend you werent there (so staying in a corner out of sight and not making any noise
However how is it if i havent yet barricaded all entrances to my room (with furniture or normal baricading) so i wouldnt even hear it if something enters
Now i am thinking should i turn on 1 light next to me (the game also told me it would be better to use gas for light (note next to the generator)

That, and when you get shadows it becomes necessary. I typically keep my generator running and stand near a lamp incase I need to turn it on, but keep it off until then. I don't know if this helps, I still seem to always have enemies breaking through my barricades despite making no noise so I have no idea if I should bother keeping the light off or not.

Can anybody confirm if having the generator on without lights on costs gas?

yes it does
from what i saw you also cant turn every light (atleast the first hideout seemed to have one fixed lamp next to the generator that is always on)

Once the generator is on, it consumes fuel at the same rate regardless of the number of lights. It's generally better to have it on.

So even with all lights on it costs the same?

Last time anyone bothered to test it, which was several builds ago. You're free to test it yourself by completely filling up the generator, running it for a night with no lamps, marking the fuel used, and then repeating but keeping every lamp on.

I know this thread is a bit old, but my question is heavily related to it, and I figure it's better to simply post in this thread than make a new one.

Do the lights cause enemies to notice you more easily? Like, if I leave a light on in a room, are savages more likely to break down the barricades than if I left the light off until needed?

Savages need light or sound to more easily see you, but I don't believe that light on its own will attract them.

Yhea from what i saw they dont break in because of light
but if you are in the room they will see you once they had any kind of sight of line
Otherwise they just spor you rarely
