understanding econimic win/loss
I fail to understand how this is calculated. I read somewhere that dying a lot hurts this, but not much else...

Yet here I stand at -2,717, have 0 deaths, 1400 kills, and started this sector with 10k am now up to 30k, I have done 30 quests (in this sector), yet i am still in the -. So either I am missing something, or am misinterpretting something

Economic win/loss is from the perspective of the Drox Operative Guild, so it is basically how much money you have made them or lost them.

For the most part, solving quests adds to the number and deaths subtracts from the number. They don't take a cut of the credits you find or get from components sold.

The other strange thing is that on the win screen it shows credits and on the loss screen it shows credits lost which are basically opposites. If you have gained the Drox Operatives 2,000 credits, it will show up as 2,000 (getting closer to a win) on the win screen and -2,000 (getting farther from a loss) on the loss screen.

Okay, that makes a bit more sense. That was indeed throwing me off, also considering how in the win screen it was 2,717 in red, and the loss screen it was -2,717 in green

Not had an Economic Win yet in over 120 hours playing - had every other kind. Seems like a LOT of work. Hope to get one some day.

I have found that going into maps with more races and destroying the most warlike first, tends to help me in this situation. Killing off a race gains you all their technologies. Learn these technologies and sell them in the diplomacy screen. Find those bosses, and empty sectors and discover those planets. Sell the information to the AI. Don't do "Free Info Pacts". This just gives the technology for free to a determined race. I rarely even do trade pacts. Although they do net the needed income from discovered technologies as well, automatically. I just like to control who gets what techs so I can know how to hurt them most when their time comes upon my table. These few things alone should help you to start seeing more Economic Wins!

Is there some sort of breakdown of exactly what goes into this win/loss condition?

I did some searching on different forums, as well as a little experimenting, but I'd like to have an exhaustive list if it is possible.

So far I have observed:

- Any outfits / components bought or sold through the planetary trade do NOT count
- Any services (such as repair or identification) bought through planetary trade does NOT count
- The cost of clandestine operations (propoganda, espionage, sabotage, rumor) do NOT count
- BUYING things (contact with other races, jump gate access, etc) through the diplomacy window does NOT count
- Searching for enemies in active quests does NOT count

- Some unknown fraction of Quest income DOES count
---- this was 12.2093% in one example, but that is a strange number and may have been influenced by my level or the quest level, or who knows what else?
- Ship replacement (what is the cost formula though?) DOES count
- some fraction of SELLING things from the trade window (contact with other races) DOES count
---- this was 10% in once example

I'm particularly struck by the incongruities in the diplomacy screen, paying for things there does not seem to count against you, but gaining income there does count FOR you. If this is inconsistant, there may be lots of other things that I have overlooked.

I'm on my second sector, and having a lot of fun. I found myself triggering economic loss once and discovered 1/3 of those things above while trying to figgure out how to work myself back out of it. After working back up out of the loss condition, I managed to die and trigger it again so I learned another 1/3 of those things working out of the loss condition the second time.

The final third I just put togher through experimentation while writing this.

So far, it seems like the ONLY way to lose money for the guild is to die. Is this true?

Economic win stuff:

10% of credits received in trades
10% of quest credit rewards

Economic lose stuff:

penalty per death = 100 + 75 * (player level - 1)
