Tutorial?
Kylyk Games  [developer] Apr 18, 2024 @ 4:03am
Hi! We have small tutorial in demo, could u please describe what exactly was unclear? Maybe you've encountered bug that didn't show tutorial at all, then we're very sorry

Need to be able to adjust screen ratio to accommodate larger monitors. As it is, on a 49" curved widescreen gaming monitor, i can't even get past the loading screen - i can't even access the "start new game" button. So i havent been able to play it. And the only options you offer are music on/off, sound effects on/off.

Unfortunately, the demo is of no interest to me because it does not support the languages specified on the game page. namely German e.g.

Resolution was messed up for me, the bottom part of the screen was cut off. Is there no way to rotate items? Things kept falling through objects (eg placing humidifier on the desk, it ended up on the floor under the desk).

Feedback:
The tutorial needs to be reworked, or recognize when actions were completed. I did all the lily quests before starting the tutorial and got stuck until the second house. It would also be good to include a brief tutorial in the 2nd level to show that there are multiple rooms in the house, as I didn't see that option at first and couldn't find the PC.

In the second house I couldn't complete all the quests because it wanted me to buy something that costs 10 lilies but I only had 6 (and no more quests).

Also, it isn't clear what the goal of a level is. I almost stopped before completing level 1 because I didn't understand that there is a points total that completes the level and additional levels after that.

Finally, the journal doesn't tie in to the game very well. Maybe it's too busy? I just didn't know what to pay attention to/what was important to the story in the organizer section.

Praise:
The environments are very very cute. I love the personality in each level. It has unpacking vibes (which is a very good thing, IMO).
I really like the quests, I would love to have more of them in each level. It's fun finding items and trying to reach the plant criteria. I would really like to be rewarded in some way for cleaning and organizing the spaces more (maybe as a whole separate mechanic aside from the quests?)

I did enjoy my brief time in game very much (aside from getting stuck) and look forward to release!

Overall, I've been having fun with the demo. On the plus side, the graphics are so freaking cute, and I really enjoy moving things around to organize the room--more of that, please! If not for that, I would have quit this demo a few minutes in and that would be it. But I really hope you can get the feedback needed to develop this game into a more polished state, because I would love to play it then! So with that in mind, here's my (very long) demo feedback:

The gameplay isn't well explained at all. There are many things I don't understand that should be clear within the first 15 minutes of starting the game:
-What is the goal of a room?
-How do you earn points? Sometimes I get them without completing a goal, but I don't know why. Some of the plants cost way more points that you can earn from the goals. So how do I even do that?
-What does the point wheel count and how do you advance it? This is very unclear. The wheel might be advancing through cycles or levels but I can't tell since there are no sound alerts or popups to signal that it is happening or what it means. The total points just seems to advance but I don't seem to be getting any bonus from that, which would be more fun.
-The game mechanics are confusing. In the first room it seems that there is only a very small space next to the window and the humidifier where the plants are happy. So does it even matter if you place plants elsewhere? Is there any other gameplay other than completing goals? If so, what is it?
-Finally (my biggest frustration), what is an "ideal environment" for a plant? A tutorial is needed for this, in particular.

For the first room I somehow completed the "ideal environment" goal but I have no idea how I did it. My strategy was to just cram plants together repeatedly to get the highest numbers. This wasn't creative or fun since i didn't know what I was aiming for. Please explain how many points is "ideal" and what criteria are required to get there. I hope there is another way to increase your points other than just cramming all the plants next to each other

Now I am stuck in the second room. I want to get some of the cool new plants in the store but I am not earning any more points to buy them with. I can't complete the ideal goal in this room and anyway I'm bored with squeezing all the same old plants together just to make points. Also, there are two goals that I don't see any way to complete.

1-"Put slippers and sneakers on a shoerack": I don't see slippers, sneakers, or a shoerack in this room, and if I am supposed to buy them or something there needs to be an explanation of that.

2-"Place cactus on PC": I don't see any PC in the room, the closest is something that looks like an old-style TV, but it is inside a shelf and isn't moveable so I can't place anything on it. there is also a square box with a remote on it that might be a game console (?) but you can't place a plant on it even though it lights up green when you try to do that.

My other general feedback is:
-Please show progress toward goals, without that it is very hard to tell if you are going in the right direction or not. (Like at one point I thought I completed a goal but it didn't work, then I kept fiddling around and somehow the goal got completed, but I didn't learn anything since I didn't know what I did that completed the goal.)
-The rooms are so cute, I want to be able to do and move more things in a room. Like, make the bed, turn on the electronics, open the drawers, draw the curtains, move the tables & chairs, etc.
-Please let us rotate things, especially rectangular shapes like boomboxes, so we have more options for fitting them into shelves, etc.
-I want to be able to buy more plants in a room (i.e., keep playing) after the room goals are done, and have a reason to do that, like earning points or buying plants for the next room. (Maybe this is already possible, but I just don't understand it.)
-Early on while in the store window, I got a popup saying "If you click RMB while holding a plant, the plant will go into inventory." This was so confusing. RMB didn't seem to do anything in the store window, nor does there seem to be any way to "hold" a plant. Then I clicked every button on the keyboard trying to find the inventory. Eventually I figured out that the popup didn't apply to the store, it was for the room. But as far as I can tell, there is no inventory. Also, the popup won't go away, it is stuck at the top of my screen even after advancing to the next room.

I think it would be helpful to add instructions on how to reskin a plant? I have two snake plants and two cacti but can't not figure out how to make them look different. I bought the skin. I added the plant back to my inventory. I changed the skin in my journal. But the plant looks the same. Do I have to buy the skin before I buy the plant and then select that skin? Does that mean I wasted my points? :CryingGhost: Knowing what to do beforehand would be nice.

I'm in the second chapter and there's only one task left (monstera skin) it costs 10 lillies but the rest of the tasks gave me 9 lillies in total!

We're very sorry! As small team of 3 friends, our demo localization is quite limited rn to our own abilities. But german language will be on final release of the game, 100%

Thanks for feedback! Could you please share your screen resolution? We'll adapt our UI to fit it, so final game wil work smoothly!
Also you can rotate objects using mouse wheel
And for placement bugs - we'll fix them for sure on game release!

It's our balance issue, it will be reworked 100%

That's great feedback, we'll add it to our features before release list :D

Noted, we'll try to make journal better prior to release

Sorry for that! It seems our button to switch floors on second level wasn't obvious and that's why these tasks were impossible to complete. We have two floors on second level, but we sure do need tutorial on that :"D
