How to object the wedding successfully ? [spoilers]
Does anybody know how to object the wedding successfully without Sam getting killed ?

I REALLY want an "Happily ever after" ending... if there is one.
I really loved the game, devs, but, if there isn't a perfect ending, make it happen ! (pretty please) It's very frustrating to end as an hobo every time.

(Sorry for my grammar, english is not my native language)

Supposedly its tied into past interactions but if it is they are really subtle and I am not sure what triggers what. There is the contract arriving, meeting your ex, I think the big thing was how the break up occurs. Who dumps who, and why you broke up. But I am not sure.

My objection failed so I don't think the game has a happy ending for me. All I can do is die before the wedding to take Sam down, and that is really the best ending for my MC.

I noticed as well even though the question of how you two broke up only comes out really late in the game even when you save Sam the suble ways he or she reacts to asking to stop the wedding reflect on how you broke up. I chose that my partner broke up with me and after asking her to stop the wedding she replied by telling me to move on and stop living in a fantasy where my partner never broke up with me. So I belive if you insist you broke up with them she'd respond with a sort of line like you made a mistake and now your paying for it line. Either way after I killed Sam and got to the wedding in a diffrent senario I got my partner back but not in a meaning ful way . she was waiting for Sam almost like she was her true partner so I felt like absolute ♥♥♥♥ for killing her even though she could be really ♥♥♥♥♥♥. but I do belive how you broke up and who did the dumping dose affect your ending along with karma and choices [/spoilers]

There is a way, but I think I just stumbled into it.
I dumped my ex out of jealousy, saved Sam and told them to cancel the wedding as repayment (they refused), and then objected on the grounds that I love my ex and need them.
Sam went beserk, my ex chose me and I lived happily ever after. Sam still becomes a millionaire through the book, though, so that is a happy ending too.

wow you actually managed to find a decent ending! I just killed Sam cuz she was a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥

Thanks, Terence.

With the new informations and my experience (i saved Sam's life, thanks to the 10 000$ on my bank account), i've got a theory about how getting back your LI, keeping the book and getting the best ending :

- Be a little angel during the game.
- When Casey asks you about the break-up, tell her/him that you dumped your LI out of jealousy.
- Go with Sam (this inglorious bastard) to the bachelor party.
- At the Casino, have 15000$ : 5000 for the suit (optionnal but i looked fabulous in it) and 10000 for the debt.
- When troubles come, pay the debt with the 10 000$ and saves you and Sam.
- At the wedding, object.
- ?????.
- Profit !

Take that, Sam. I've never loved you anyway.
I'm going to try this. Lot of work but i think it might be it.

so I take it you paid off the debt with the journal? Maybe the trick is you can't have both the book and the love interest, so in order to object succesffully you need to give up your career.

Edit:

Just tried again

I dumped ex out of fear he was going to dump me the first one, paid off Sams debt with journal, told sam to cancel wedding, bought suit, and told larry it was my journal. I lose the objection everytime. I am starting to wonder if something further back essentially blocked that path for me. Even though I wasn't particuarlly evil. i didn't make the choice for Darkeff about the heroine, he picked it up off the ground and used it, and I saved his life by blackmailing the doctor. Asdie from that the only thing I was judged for was taking the job while the workers were on strike in beaton. I'll try messing around with the different I dumped options and payment of Sams debt.

Same here, got rejected, again and again,at the wedding by my LI. I was quite a nice guy during my playthrough (i think)...

I've must have missed something during the game but what... ?

Terence2386, what were your choices during the game ? Especially the ones with your LI ?

I have to know how you succeed your objection during the wedding !
Scissorhead May 24, 2014 @ 9:10pm
My playthrough I said she dumped me because I felt unworthy and later when he reads my journal back to me and asks me if I feel I am worthy of her I said yes. (felt like a good story moment lol) I gave the journal to save sams life and made sam stay behind and pay the money. When larry asked about the journal I said I didn't have it and when sam asks if I want anything for saving her life I told her nothing she does can repay ( didn't think it was right to make her call off the wedding and I the journal wasn't what was important to my character) So at the wedding I objected and she chose me over Sam. Sam punched me in the face. she turned out to be the homeless guy. I got the girl and I let Sam live and she made the contents of my journal a bestseller and prospered off of that. I think it really is an either or scenario. You get the girl or you get the book you don't get both because I think the devs really need the homeless person twist at the end otherwise it doesn't make sense so someone needs to be unhappy.

What I would wan't to know is when you

get asked out by your love interest in the flash back, do you say yes or do you say you need to finish you essay?

When you get sent out to the bluff with the telescope did you kiss your love interest or did you turn away and make them kiss you?
I was trying to not be a ♥♥♥♥ to Sam by stealing his crush from under him or started stuff with his crush. But maybe that caution made me seem less interested and thus made Sam look better in the objection.

I feel like those two parts I messed up.

It is quite frustrating not knowing if the triggers are all toward the end or if there are some in the back.

Edit

I finally got it!

Didn't change anything but the choices from taking to Casey onward.

I said my love interest broke up with me because i felt unworthy, I regreted all of casey judgements and said I was worthy of my love interest and I was going to try and win them back. I paid off the debt with my journal and told Sam he could never repay me and tol Larry I just didn't have the journal so there was no way I would get credit for the book. When I objected I said I loved and needed him. Sam socked me and ran off and my love interest chose me. MC and lovei nterest lived happly ever after, hobo sam. Hope this helps. I didn't change anything before going to San verdino or whatever.

I was totally flirting with my love-interest, didn't finish my essay, and signed the contract.
I also killed the racing guy by cutting his brakes, but I didn't do anything bad aside from that.
I also paid the $10,000 pail for Sam, then when I objected and spammed the first 'I LOVE YOU' option, I got the A+ Ending.

I hope this will help a bit, atleast.

-Edit

Forgot to add that I chose the ''I dumped her'' option, due to me being "unworthy".

Ok, so past this point, SPOILERS GALORE. Just a heads up. Ok, still here? The decisions that effect whether your spouse listens to your objection, most likely, is how many things are you called out for at the confession and by casey. I had 2 for casey and 1 for the confession my second time thru, and that was enough to win her back. Also, if you want the book deal, you have to win 10000 in the casino, and pay the guy yourself. Yes, blackjack is the only thing I saved and reloaded till I had the money, 15000 to be exact, I think there may be a reason to buy the suit/dress, but I havent tested that. Like I said, this part is redundant but other than how you play the majority of the game, the give journal/keep journal/pay debt is the most important decision for your endgame. Btw, Specifically, I took reds job in defiance of the strike and backed out of the sabotage, basically did nothing else bad except blackmail the doctor, and buy Hailey happy pills, because seriously, I only have to spend 1 day on a cornerside mattress, how cool is that, and I mean throughout the whole game. Just sounds cool that way. Oh, also the part about why you dumped your ex/why he/she dumped you might only matter in what you might get as a response to an objection, successful or no.

Well I got called out by casey 5 times and 'none'? with my LI and For me, instead of Viper in the hospital it was Darkeff and Darkeff died. but thanks for the blackjack tip. really helped.
