Gods Will Be Watching F.A.Q.
Hello everybody!

The gang here at Deconstructeam have been following all the thread discussions and taking your wonderful feedback into account, thank you very much for taking your time to share your thoughts here. We put together the most common questions/issues in this FAQ so everybody can easily access them. We'll be opening more threads to get to know your opinion in different aspects of the game and possible updates, I hope you help us in making Gods Will Be Watching grow in the best way possible!

Q: Will I enjoy Gods Will Be Watching, is there a demo I can try before I purchase it?
A: There is no proper demo but there are many playthroughs available on YouTube to watch. You can try for free the original prototype on the official website: www.godswillbewatching.com The full game includes six and a half chapters similar to the demo, linked through several cinematics with a strong focus on the narrative.

Q: Can I upgrade my game to the Collector’s Edition?
A: Not yet. You can still get the OST from http://fingerspit.bandcamp.com but we’ll try to make this happen.

Q: How do I change the language of the game?
A: You can choose any language right at the start of the game. Please, note that you may skipped that part if you miss-clicked

Q: How long is the game?
A: Our estimate is between 8-12 hours on the normal difficulty setting.

Q: I get an “OUT OF MEMORY” error in Chapter 5.
A: The bug is fixed, if you keep getting it, you're not playing the latest version of the game.

Q: The game runs slow on my Mac. Why is this?
A: The requirements for the Mac version are higher than others OS, so check those before buying the game. If your computer meet the requirements and you still got this problem, post in this thread or through the submit form on www.godswillbewatching.com

Q: My Linux version of the game doesn’t work properly. Why is this?
A: The game only runs on Ubuntu currently, please check the system requirements on the game page to confirm your machine will run the game.

Q: I have a problem that isn't listed on this FAQ.
A: Post the problem in this thread or through the submit form on www.godswillbewatching.com Screenshots and information will be appreciated besides the error itself.

Q: I get 0% on all statistics when my game ends.
A: That’s what you get when the connection fails. You can still see the statistics of the levels you have beaten on the main menu.

Q: Will there be a windowed mode?
A: Press Alt+Enter to toggle between windowed and fullscreen mode.

Q: The game won’t start, I get a white/black screen everytime I start the game.
A: Wait patiently as that’s what happens when the game takes too long to load everything. You can also try to press Alt+Enter twice as apparently some people reported that fixes the problem.

Q: Where’s the Collector’s Edition content on my computer?
A: Right click on the game on Steam, Properties, Local Files > Browse local files.

Q: Is the soundtrack available in a lossless format?
A: The high quality soundtrack is available on Bandcamp: http://fingerspit.bandcamp.com

Q: The game won’t run on Windows XP
We’re sorry but the game doesn't support Windows XP per the system requirements on Steam. You should update your OS in order to play it.

Q: The game shows some graphics/performance problems in Windows 8.
For most of the players it works OK, but some users with this issue reported that they solved the problem by setting the executable file of the game compatibility to Windows 7.

Q: I want to run GWBW in a 64-bit Linux version.
This should install the necesarry files to do so:

sudo apt-get install lib32z1 lib32ncurses5 lib32bz2-1.0 libopenal1:i386 libstdc++6:i386 libxxf86vm1 libssl1.0.0:i386 libgl1-mesa-glx:i386 libopenal1 libglu1-mesa:i386

Would it be fair to add (very minor spoiler)

Q: X character died and came back to life! Is this a bug?

A: No, just pay attention and keep playing

I pre-ordered the collector's edition on your website several months ago (at the time, this edition was only listed at your website).
When the game was released, I was negatively surprised that the Steam key I received at the Humble Store was for the regular edition of the game (with no option to upgrade on Steam), and I had none of the extras on my Humble account either. Humble updated my game's page a couple of days later, and at least part, or all, of the extras are now there, but as a matter of convenience I prefer to own these extras on Steam, when available, to have everything in one place, so I'm very disappointed that you choose not to provide the extras on Steam for those who pre-ordered directly from you, and gave no warning this content would not be provided with the respective Steam key.

First of all: I didn't choose anything. That's the way it works on Humble, you have your collector's content there. It makes no difference, since the collector's content in Steam it's downloaded to your hard drive the same way it does on Humble.

But if you send me a mail through the contact form on www.godswillbewatching.com with your receipt, I'll gladly give you a Collector's Steam Key so you can stop feeling disappointed :)

You need to replay the level that you unlocked it for and click it in the pause menu.

Just a short question to the developers. Does the game really not run on Windows XP systems? I mean it uses DirectX9 and so it should not be exclusive to Windows 7. Does it really not run on XP or haven't you just not tested it on WinXP? I read about "Out Of Memory" Errors when starting on XP - maybe the game uses memory n a specific way?

We don't know the specific cause, but most computers running Windows XP can't execute the game so, we don't give support to that OS. Sorry.

Will this game get any sort of windowed mode or adjustable size? or will it only be fullscreen.
