I like it so far

- GIGANTIC map with tons of landmarks/instances/quests to do
- a very wide variety of guns, munitions, and attachments
- a plethora of good cosmetics if you have the time or money to get them

- all VOICED dialogue/music is recorded in russian (not that its neccessarily a bad thing, im just biased due to having zero understanding of russian)
- the game lowered my monitor's refresh rate [from 165hz to 59.94*] (still trying to figure out why or how this happened. could possibly be something else entirely)
- the game cannot be tabbed out while in borderless windowed
- cannot lower/heighten resolution in settings, forcing me to play in 1920x1080 despite having a 1440p monitor

TL;DR BLUF IF YOU DON'T LIKE MINECRAFT PARKOUR MECHANICS DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME.

Have you played any of the existing STALKER franchise games? If you stumbled across this game as part of some sort of suggestion or otherwise "It's free!" conversations, then let's go ahead and lay it on the line.
This game captures the atmosphere of the STALKER games. The feeling of isolation and that twinge of fear and doubt about what could come next or having no idea what is around the next tree is captured perfectly. As is the "feature" of any enemy on the map becoming aware of your exact location when you enter and beelining for you within minutes of your arrival; better still, they will randomly spawn in enemies nearby in order to really nail down the "you are not welcome here" vibe. That is the positive part of this review.
This is yet another game that directly profits off of your ignorance. If you don't have some buddies that have suffered already or you don't watch every video or read every guide you WILL hit points where you will be struck with the feeling of "oh well I guess I just can't progress" and that will happen on more than one occasion if you decide to struggle through. However, if you are one of those sociopath/borderline psychos that take it upon themselves to ensure that not a single person participating will make any kind of progress, then you can just drop a couple hundred dollars, get the best gear in the game in the beginner area, then face the utter isolation and loneliness that is gear-based progression/gating because the game won't populate your instance unless players in it having matching gear scores.

I wanted to enjoy this game, but instead it is the replacement for any other harmful substance I could partake of in order to feel the pain that allows me to keep my cold broken heart beating long enough to collect my next paycheck.
