Long answer:
There are early versions of the game, including a "Brototype" from over a year ago that, to the best of my knowledge, is still free. It only has around ten characters or so, the graphics aren't as good, there are way fewer levels, and any other mechanics that have been added to Broforce since early 2014 are not available. I think it can still be found on Free Lives' website.
There's Expendabros, which was a promotional tie-in with Expendables 3 using the Broforce engine. It can more or less be considered a demo of Broforce, with seven characters (most of which resemble Broforce characters in terms of gameplay), ten levels, and most of the features Broforce has. It can be obtained for free on Steam.
Of course, because it's the internet, there's also the possibility of getting the full game for free, aka pirating. I don't condone this, because Free Lives is one of the coolest and most reasonable developers out there, and they absolutely deserve to be paid for Broforce. The option is there, though.
I highly recommend buying the full game. It is absolutely worth every penny.
Try Expendabros for a while. If you like that, think more mechanics + more bros + more enemies + more levels + more pretty stuff + more explosions + more freedom = Broforce. But hey, I work here so I'm biased.
Once you've done those 10 levels, come back to the store page for Broforce, shell out the money, (or if it's cheaper or on sale on one of the reseller sites, grab it there), come back on to this thread, proudly...and I mean PROUDLY announce that you've bought it, apologise for even doubting this fantastic game and prove to people, like I try to, that REAL Pirates BUY the stuff they download and like, because the people who produced it/made it/wrote it/sang it/♥♥♥♥-it-out-through-the-eye-of-a-needle/whatevered it DESERVE the money from you because you liked it.
