I've been saying this forever, but unfortunately the devs don't have any plans to incorporate such a feature.
The best we can really hope for is, when the level editor becomes more intuitive, to recreate the entire campaign and simply force whatever Bros you want. Kinda clunky, but it's the best we're going to get, it seems.
Indy CAN damage terrain; he has a unique melee in the form of a pickaxe. He's actually fairly quick at it, too, and can even dig slightly under him. Honestly, I don't think there are many scenarios where he DOESN'T excel. That being said, he's one of those cases that really warrants a tip screen, because he's the ONLY person besides Neo with a unique melee attack.
I think Ellen's special could use a buff...But her primary is one of the most potent in the game. I like her.
When they finally get achievements in I would go for trying to beat the game with each of the bros.
