Problem with displaying the game

Please be informed that I've bought Broforce game some time ago on Steam and after I recently installed it on my laptop (Windows 10), I've found out that the game won't start, although it does have sound. Please find below the best description for this issue:

- after running the game, the icon appears on the bottom taskbar, and the screen freezes, with only the mouse coursor working and in game sound - in this time I can't open anything and if I use the command Alt+Tab, the mouse coursor dissapears (the sound still present though) and the name of the game appears in upper left corner of the screen, framed within a border (screenshot attached).

Also note that I've checked the integrity of local files and they are all there and my Nvidia graphics card drivers are up to date. This is the third game which has the same issue/error, after Narcosis and Guns, Gore and Cannoli 2, which are still unplayable.

I've tried to force the game to open in smaller screen resolution (modifying the Regedit settings for the game), but without success.

Please advise or provide a game fix/tutorial, so I ca run this game.

If it is only a resolution problem then there are two ways to fix this.

Nerdy way:
Edit the resolutionW and resolutionH values of the options.xml file in your saves directory of Broforce.

Patriotic way:
When starting the game press the Fire button (or whichever button you normally use to navigate menus like 'Enter') to skip the developer logos and wait for the eagle screech for the main menu to appear.
In the main menu press down once and press Fire to enter the options menu.
In the options menu press up four times and press Fire to enter the set resolution menu.
In the resolution menu press up twice and then Fire to select the optimal resolution.
Fix Resolution from Main Menu Hyper Combo:
Down, Fire, Up, Up, Up, Up, Fire, Up, Up, Fire
(Make sure you tap up and not hold it down)

Unfortunately, I don't know coding, so nerdy way is out of the question.

I've tried the patriotic way, but I can't manage to go through all your indications blindly.

Is there other way I can actually see something besides the sound, even in VGA window?

Editing an xml file is just as simple as editing a text file. You mentioned using regedit, which is more complicated, so I thought the xml edit wouldn't be too difficult. However, it is likely another issue since multiple games are affected.

I've managed to change the resolutionW and resolutionH values to 1920 and 1080 in the Options.xml file and now when I open the game, I can see a white full screen window, with game sound and again, no other image.
It might be something from my laptop, since other games appear the same but don't know where is the issue.
Any advices?
