SimCity™ 3000 Unlimited

SimCity™ 3000 Unlimited

With controls this bad, how does this game have positive reviews?
Am I missing something? Probably just proof they paid people to write positive reviews. But why, for a $5 game? I bought on sale for $2.50 and refunded. This isn't worth 2 cents, let alone $2.

What are your issues precisely?

The controls are standard

I don't think he/she needs instructions on which key to press for whatever function.
I think this is just about THE VERY BAD sensitivity of the mouse scrolling while you try to build your city up and get a decent overall vision in the game.
It is very poorly made, and frustrating is saying the least.
I gave up after only 5 mins of playing, and bear in mind, I am a nostalgic and HUGE fan of all the Sims series from Maxis. Maxis indeed. Not EA.
With all the money they (still) have - I don't buy the "gaming sector crisis" excuse anymore.
They just cut jobs and people out to make more money. Even with titles which are decades old (they're doing the same now with the old The Sims ahahah...luckily I managed to find FREE downloads online which are properly running and never crushed once).
Frustrating.
I am thinking about refund too.
The mouse speed issue is not because of the game itself and is readily corrected by either or both of the following
  • Settings app
    • Bluetooth & devices
      • Mouse
        • Additional mouse settings
          • Pointer Options tab
            • Motion
              • Select a pointer speed
  • SimCity 3000 Properties
    • Shortcut tab
      • Target:
        • *\Apps\SC3U.exe" -freq 60
As always both of the following combined are recommended which offers additional minor improvements

Exactly. I'm a HUGE fan of this game. But the mouse scrolling thing is super annoying and makes it impossible to play, unfortunately. I was getting hyped for it. I already refunded so not going to hassle with it again.

That's a funny statement, considering literally no other game, or app/website/etc, period, does that with the mouse. It's only one game I have that problem with. Hmm.....

Not really

Likely every application since operating systems, driver models and standard component sets such as DirectX and equivalents came onto the scene, rather than reinventing the wheel, particularly in the case of near universal requirements like human interface device input, will utilize said component sets

Many other titles have the same or similar issues

The issue stems from the input method used then and "a few" changes in computing technology since, not game design or even code

Highly recommend the above together

If already refunded via Steam, you may wish to reacquire via GOG, which requires fewer steps for creating a standalone installation
