How Did I Mess Up My Yakuman
Recently played a game where my hand was:

444 Man 77 Man 555 Sou 9999 Man (closed Kan) RR Dragons. Called Ron on the last Dragon to win, was counted as a Mangan for All Triplets + 3 Concealed Triplets instead of Suuankou.

What did I mess up? Do you have to declare riichi for it to count as a Yakuman? Do you have to tsumo the last tile yourself?

For yakuman you need 4 concealed triplets; since you have a double sided wait you would need to tsumo instead of ron to make it a yakuman of 4 concealed triplets
sort of related, if when you're in tenpai for a possible yakuman you get the YAKUMAN READY message in silver, that means the hand isn't guaranteed yakuman. if the message appears in gold though then the yakuman is guaranteed (assuming you complete it of course)
Riichi is not a must, but you do have to tsumo to get suuankou with that hand.

In that situation, declaring riichi increases your chance of winning with tsumo to get the suuankou yakuman.
I feel a little less bad about it now. Would have been awesome to see a yakuman, but there were only 6 draws left in the game, so taking the Ron there was probably better to get at least some points on the board vs. very low chance of getting Tsumo on the last draw.

Good to know that using a Ron'd tile to complete a set doesn't count as "concealed".

All Triplets and San'ankou alone are already worth a lot. You already made the best move by not declaring riichi and letting someone deal into your hand.

The only situation where you want to take the risk would be if you are in all last at 4th place as a non-dealer, and calling that Ron doesn't let you get to 3rd rank.

Small ocrrection: it's YAKUMAN CHANCE in silver when it's possible and YAKUMAN READY in gold when it's guaranteed.
