Bigger houses
A lot of the community pictures have people showing massive housing, and when I finally put down my stone house, I saw a tiny room. Is there a way to increase the size or do I have to keep playing and unlock better houses for those giant ones.

Use your floor to expand.
You mean that if I place some floor inside a house, the house will become bigger inside to accomodate it? Wow.

Kind-of.

You have 'invisible' walls on your left and right that keep you in your box, but there's no lid on said box. Build stairs and you will climb up and over, falling into the abyss, and eventually reappearing on the overworld roughly in the same location.

That said, you can build anywhere once you're on-top. Here is a quick example pic I whipped up:

If you're looking to make something aesthetic then you'll be able to do some creative things with this - but do note that your natives likely won't find any paths leading upstairs into your add-ons since they can barely navigate past a well.

the issue is that the indoors are all linked together

also npcs can get stuck in there so a big no no unless you wanna make a house only for you far away like in the middle of nowhere out in the ocean

Fun fact, the indoor section is actually the same area as the surface! It's just really far below the map. It takes 11 stairs at max height to reach the ocean floor, but you'll need some clever tricks to travel between these realms.

Once you get close enough to the surface, NPC's function as normal. You can build a little society down there~ Just build up, let your follower down and then see if they wander to the nearest door or move around your territory (set it above 0).

Of course, drag houses from outside into the interior area and it'll create another interior below for NPC's :) don't get lost~

@Shrub - Well that will not work. below the "Earth" level there is a "Water" level... So conecting do not work. Cause you will Start to "Swim" before you can Exit to the Outside. I only Tested this hight cause i wanted to Test How far up i need to go, to not have a "blocked" View when i Put a 2. (or more) Floor in... But even if you go up that far it Blocks your "Mouse". Somehow this "Space" behave else then the "Outside"... In the manner of Cam View. :steamsad:

What may would Work is if you Pile "outside" Houses Exact over each other... But that would lead to the Fact that one is getting unusable cause of the Sea level... and not to think about those that come after. Uhgg, and the blocked View. Anyway - Nonsense. I only thought about Building a Skyscraper cause of the "In Base" spawning Issue i have.

NPCs don't path to extension they seem to use teleport to bed here :isurrender: (they walk to back wall of house and appear in bed). In the morning they simply jump from second floor.

So extension could be made somewhat functional although it seems like they still somehow respect "territory" set and fail to see beds futher away from entrance based on location and territory set on ground level.

Please try to use the Steam screenshot function (you can still link unlisted screenshots) or a less sketchy link. That said, I like your use of blue curtains and thank you for sharing :)

Ya sparked my curiosity so I went to observing.
NPC's warp into bed around 5~6 seconds. It didn't matter where I moved the bed on my second floor - above the entrance; middle; back, they would always warp after the set time. My bed placement is inefficient, so the ground-floor NPCs were also forced to execute this behavior. Since it takes about 5 seconds to walk to the back wall, it looks like it's an illusionary wall that transports NPCs to beds!

That's why I mentioned ya gotta get creative. While swimming, zoom your camera and drag it down with your mousewheel. Since the POV is at an angle, we'll dip underwater. From here, you can place anything you want and it can extend above the ocean. I placed stairs all the way up and built a mini-base under the mountain!

To get back down, you can either use bed-warp or place a house on the surface to take you back to the bottom. Perhaps the most efficient way would be to use the interior-level as a warp-zone. If you place the houses above just right so they're all offset on their X axis by a smidge and they're all exactly above each other, you should be able to line up the entrances so that they're all accessible from the merged single interior.

That'd be so sick to see

Heck, I even managed to build OOB! Anything is possible if ya put your mind to it.

The main problem with actual walls, is that they are oriented 45 degrees away from other buildings. So many walls in the screenshots are actually made out of different things, such as wooden beams.
