kidnapping the female or male protagonist fits the game's flow and atmosphere. I also think it's interesting that if the protagonist of the opposite gender you're living with dies due to your carelessness or mistakes, you have to restart the game.

Reloading will revive your partner with 1hp. If they're lost, you can use the blue flag's call feature to summon them.

Yes. In normal gameplay, you'll be switching between the protagonists regularly, to experience content meant for one or the other gender. And to make sure they are of similar level, so that both are able to fight well.

Let me be the first one to say that if the other protag dies due to carelessness is a very very easy thing to have happen early on

it takes all of 1 native raid when you're outnumbered or out and gathering for the AI that controls the other protag to try and fight and lose.

Imagine needing to reload after such a thing happens. It would make more sense for them to be kidnapped to a local native camp to make the player interact with the game more.

Think you guys are misunderstanding the game they never permanently die same for companions. They will rise back to there feet after a few minutes. Reloading just speeds it up, maybe i'm wrong but never had them permanently die. Maybe if starve them to death haven't encountered that. Only difference is if everyone in your stronghold or with you wipes. The may capture one of your companions that you have to go rescue. If you want them back.
Additionally when a controlled protagonist dies you open map and click on a blue flag. Returning to your base which fully heals and revives them.

to add lvling up faster also means you unlock skills quicker between the 2 characters
