If your buildings get destroyed during a raid, once the raid is defeated/over, the buildings with their contents respawn shortly after, including chests and cages with caught npc’s. So the durability you see on placeable furniture and walls is strictly there to tell you how long they can repel raiders, for example to make them stand on spikes for a while etc.
it's like worse than fallout 4's can't build anywhere without the build anywhere mod
-train 2 npcs to fight with a sandbag on lvl up duty
-invest heavily into strength and health for them.
-give them some primative weapons (idk why or later but you can only give them like stone tools or spears you cannot give them iron swords and junk. so primative tools weapons a stone axe should do)
-give the rest bows no arrow ammo required
-place 2-3 rows of walls wood or stone doesn't matter unless you got a large hoarde of enemies they won't be able to chew through the first layer anyhow.
-place about 10 rows of spikes iron or wood and if you got the time the purple crystal shard ones but wood can honestly do it and place them near the walls
-place tons of trees so they grow and block the paths of hostile npcs / raiders
-leave a small area where you can funnel them to and fill it with more spikes 10-14 more rows
-kill any stragglers that try to or somehow enter your base
there
nothing short of a high lvl enemy should be able to penetrate your defenses.
in all honesty the hostile npcs / A.I. / pathing are so stupid you can literally seal off your base surrounded by water at the edge of the beaches and they'll get stuck and won't know what to do and then just leave or die from sharks and stuff.
just be careful with your villagers. They too can get stuck or kidnapped and then you have to do a whole thing to rescue them.
you can give the man or woman MCs you can control weapons and a shield and they'll auto fight them if they get too close too
as you lvl up you'll get stronger and better stuff
but honestly the low maintenance setup is best.
a large bundle of acorns that grow into trees is pretty much enough to stop most enemies. The spikes just dish out extra damage.
Or you can just build a lot of leaf totems, and there would be no raids at all.
Personally, I combine both - I have a hell totem to make raids that drop warrior spheres, and leaf totems so that there is a manageable amount of enemies to fight.
A "bit" cheaty but 2 Large Female Native followers at ~500lvl can beat ~60 lvl100 raid which drops around 20 fighter orbs. To recruit those You only need a lot of Ore Needles (80+) stacked onto each other (or as closely as possible otherwise raid timeouts) and repeatedly guide them over it.
In the rescue mission, there would be a giant guard dressed like a post-apocalyptic raider.
Kill him, and loot the necklace from his body.
And don't forget to rescue your villager.
- Find in early area a place where there is cliff or other things so that a whole side or two can't be raided.
- Build stone wall around your base (upgrade it after when you have better ressource into iron walls)
- Outside stone wall, put wood/iron needle very close to the wall.
- Where you see place where there is passage, add wooden spike (they destroy easyly but deal a ton of damage and are an additional obstacle).
- Have a few natives (1 to 3 or more depending on the size of your base) on survivor/repair
Make entrance in the base (for each entrance) :
- Place your entrance where it's hard to defend (because sometime iron needles can't be put close to the walls, ennemies will destroy without taking damage) replace wall by iron needles, put some wooden spike to make obstacle, and enough place for you to go out)
- Inside the walls around the entrance put : Training bag, well, foodboxe, a house (use the native ones, you can put 3 leaf beds, will do the trick) and a bed outside (for morale they'll have H on it, lesbian one if only female, just be sure they like each other if you allow love).
- Put 1 native on survivor + repair near the entrance, 1 with survivor + food.
- Easy to acquire "early" : Mommy, skeleton, big native as defensive. You can also try to get a spider or a wolf they are surprisingly strong when you lvl them up and can be acquire very early. Put on of them on "guarder" and "train". Put everything in HP and ATK (HP > 500 ands ATK > 100 in early is good). I advice to put animals, mommy etc.. on no love allow, they don't have h with others NPC anyway.
- Add a female native or an elder sister or better a large female on defender/train to def. For female native, give them a bow and an arrow, it's better than other weapons.
- Add houses and defenses as you like.
If one of your native get captured, when you go save her, kill the guard he will have an item that will make the one equipping it more likely to be target of the raid (then put it on a big native, large native female) sadly the item can't be put on boss monster such as the werewolf.
Keigo and Sally also are good at defense (put them on defender/train) they are my inside base defence in case something go wrong and the targeted is inside.
Ofc, Yona will also def, and usually you kinda make her strong for the story (at least for basic raid).
You can also create some items (such as leaf mascot) that reduce the number of raiders and their levels (the reverse is true too, lvl 50 to have large female native).
For early, wolf/spider and if you have access to the dungeon, mommy are really strong (mommy get twice the attack and HP of a native per up which is really good). If you don't want big native. The best are large female native, the giant and the bosses (but it's more end game already).
Little tricks :
You can sometimes stack needles (but it's rare).
You can stack wood spike or wall on needles, but you can't do it the other way, so once you finish installing walls and needles, do a maintenance with additional walls or wood spikes to close the holes in your defense).
Raiders don't go inside caves, which make low level caves with only bats a more or less secured base.
